Mushkin 512MB PC-3200 at Newegg for $85 shipped. Not a bad deal considering Kingston is selling their Value Ram for $100 AR.

They say the timings are 2.5-4-4

Edit - 5-28 - Has come down from $89

I remember when high end 512mb pc3200 ram was selling for the same price. A stick of corsair xms 512mb pc3200 once $123 is now $201 :( Just great...right when I was feeling like another stick of ram. :(

how does this compare with the weekend promo build mushkin had, 512 meg pc2700 2-2-3 winbond ch-6 for 80$ (+tax with the 10% code)?

Am I missing something there? You guys are saying you paid 95$ for 512mb pc3200, but this deal is for 89 for the same memory right? Why are you complaining?

"I remember when high end 512mb pc3200 ram was selling for the same price." Is the RAM in this deal not high end?

The ram posted here is Mushkin's basic line, their "valueram". The chips used aren't as high quality as those used on say their blue and black line. As a result, it will probably run just fine at spec but will not overclock like real high end memory again like mushkin's blue and black line. Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty nice price for memory considering the current market.

I must be the old timer of the group, I once upgraded my 256k Atari 520ST to 1MB with the addition of $300 worth of 256x1 chips.

I go back further but don't remember how much the memory upgrade on the Timex Sinclair 1000 cost me.

My first hard drive was a 20mb that cost $800

Nice....is fargus and farster related? I find it too much a coincidence that you two have similar names and the same avatar. Maybe I'm just bored and thinking of whack things. My first build was a 266p2 so I can't really comment...

Boy that brings back memories.....my first hard disk was a whopping 5 MB in 1987 for my IBM AT that cost $350. And $200 for the extra RAM and board to bring my 4.77MHZ IBM up to 640KB RAM from 512KB.

Those were the days...........

Just curious...what kind of things were you guys able to do with all that raw power? Open a directory and then be forced to reboot?

Would the Mushkin cas 2.5 ram for $89 be a better deal than the current Kingston promotion of cas 3 for $69 AR? I'm just wondering if that extra .5 cas difference or the quality of the actual memory itself is worth the $20 price difference?

How high does this memory clock to? And how high are people getting high end memory clocked to these days? I don't really care if I can't get 400mhz with slower timings, timings never make too much of a difference, they don't usually outweigh the extra mhz i go for in my experience.

Only if you plan on overclocking.

That Kingston 'promotion' is bogus, isn't it? Or are you thinking of a different deal? If so, please share :)

If you mean bogus as in DEAD yes it is, was about to order some Valueram too. :(

Jumped from 83$ to 115$. An increase of nearly 40%. :(

Gotta start hoarding that ram! :)

Corsair XMS PC3200 is high end and they cost alot more now.. this mushkin could compare to a corsair value series eh? maybe thats why they are complaining

I ordered two of these for my new CAD rig. IMHO you can't go wrong with Mushkin, be it green, blue or black.
Can't O/C the workstation anyway
