I'm not much of a laptop guy, but I picked one of these up as a gift for my BILs graduation. I was just looking for a laptop that could play games and wasn't too expensive. I didn't have luck finding anything new with a comparable video card unless I went up a couple hundred in price.

Not a bad deal. The CPU could be a bit faster, but the video card is just a bit below the 8800M GTS in performance. For $700, though, it's a decent deal.

Funny, though. Newegg specifications state:

LCD Features: Glare

😉

I would be all over that if I hadn't just convinced the wife to let me buy a car 🙂

That would make a nice LAN box - the low scree resolution means the 4670 will be able to play games for a long time to come at native res...

Yeah, thats another reason I snagged it actually. The res isn't awesome for doing office work, however you could always attach a big screen to it to help with that if you're using it as a desktop replacement and it bothered you. (Which is more or less what my BIL will be doing) And from experience, if you game at a low resolution a card lasts a lot longer. Since my BIL's current computer has a fading 15" CRT monitor I don't think its going to bother him to much.

I got it last night, I fired it up to made sure it worked and to burn the recovery disks. Seems pretty nice, but again I'm not a laptop guy. I'll probably preload some of his games for him and get the updates going if I can.

This is also at Amazon for the same price I saw yesterday, the lead time to ship was like 3 weeks (thats usually really conservative based on my experience with amazon) but Amazon might have a better return policy then newegg in this particular case if thats of concern.
