probably not moving very many. There is....well..sadly little reason for most people to upgrade from their 2500k's ;p I'd jump on one..but again..why? In a year when we actually need them, they'll be much cheaper ;)

Yeah if you're already on a SB or IVB platform there's not much reason to upgrade, but for anyone sitting on an older CPU arch and chipset in need of an upgrade, there's really no reason not to upgrade to Haswell at this point.

From what I saw though sales were actually very brisk at my local MC. On launch day I counted no less than a dozen or so other individuals scrambling to pick their board with MC employee + CPU in tow.

Would you guys consider replacing a FX 8320 with a 4770K? I dont have a loyalty to AMD or Intel, but rather I usually go with the best performance/price. The MC deal is pretty good. I can pick up a 4770K with a Asus Z87 for $389

I think it really comes down to your main usage scenarios. Any Intel i7 CPU from the last 3 gens is going to be faster than that FX 8320 in single/lightly threaded usage scenarios, but about the same in MT scenarios. If you're a heavy gamer there are certainly a few games that are much faster on Intel-based platforms due to the higher IPC on Intel CPUs. At this point I don't think you are going to be justified making the upgrade from a performance/price perspective.

Intel also doesn't enjoy as much overclocking headroom as in the past, stock clocks are way up and with Turbo, there's not that much headroom left to really distance itself compared to AMD. Same though with those Vishera chips, I think you can maybe get ~10-15% more over the stock speeds?

Another big consideration though is total platform power decrease. Haswell runs hot, not because it uses a lot of power, but because the thermal paste used under the IHS is inefficient at dissipating heat. But overall Z87+Haswell has resulted in a HUGE decrease in power consumption. My office is probably a good 3-4 degrees cooler now that I swapped out X58+920. It's gotten to the point I almost need to wear socks in here now. Now I kind of wish I checked with Kill-A-Watt prior to swapping, but I would imagine it is at least 120W difference in total system power (board + CPU).

Closest one to me is in geek central I think. Tustin CA.

This is the first recent Intel launch that they have been available from the getgo with 10+ of your choice from day 1 and everytime I look....Hmm not selling I'd have to think.
