yeah ... these guys kick TOTAL ASS!!! i bought the 128MB Micron RAM for $29 ... it's running at CAS 2-2-2 (7ns) on my t-bird rig. they were friendly and helpful in the actual store. kick-ass place.

they're on the northeast corner of Golf and Milwaukee ... i don't remember the exact address though. i talked to Jay.

i'm sold. from now on i'm getting all my computer stuff from Micronet Systems.
 
hate to be the crapper, but these deals are not really hot... c'mon! a 1Ghz athlon for like $180? that's crazy expensive! and 128MB ram for $30? i saw 128MB ram at BB couple weeks ago for 20... but whatever floats your boat, i guess...
 
Krex sucks! They make you buy a crappy heatsink with every CPU purchase. I bought 1 Duron 600 from them about 6 months ago. I will never buy from Krex again.
 
I've noticed that the prices arent updated online like much at all. I called in to get some other pricing and the 1GHz is now $119 and the 128 is $29. the service is much, much better than krex and what I do is always call up and get pricing and it works out easier. Iman is my sales guy for prices, his number is 847-470-0890.
 
Micronet won't force you into a crappy heatsink...i bought a 1GHz T-bird ($119, of course, and AVIA-Y) and i am using a nice Dangerden watercooling kit on it. just the way i like it.
 
Wahoo... More Chicagoans! Did you guys know we might get a Fry's soon? I hope Staples gets in the act and shows up someday...
 
There are really hot considering that these prices are just the set prices, no rebates, no hassles. Great find.

It's only a rumor but hopefully it is true! We all know the complaints about Frys but it would be cool to have more options. I believe the location was on the north or north-west outskirts of Chicago right next to the freeway (I-290 or I-90/94).
 
I saw a Staples sign on a building as I was driving by on 355 near Lombard. My first thought told me that it was a Staples warehouse, since the nearest store to me is supposedly 50 miles away. This one is more like 20 miles from the Micronet surrounding suburbs. Does anybody have any info on this? It was like 2-5 miles south of Army Trail Rd. exit
 
The Staples near I355 and Army Trail is just a warehouse. Services IL (Kankakee), IN (Merrillville), and WI (Beliot, Whitewater, etc.) stores. There used to be a store on Butterfield near Finley in Lombard, but that closed when they left the Chicago area. I guess they had too much competition from Office Max, Office Depot, and others. Actually, I believe the pulled out shortly after the Staples/Office Depot (or was it Max?) merger was announced. Figured at the time that it was to limit overlap. But the deal failed...

Wish they would come back. Wouldn't need to visit the parents anymore to get to the B&M then... ;^)
 
Supposedly, Fry's is negotiating with the city of Downers Grove to take over the AutoNation site on Finley Road. Can't wait to see if this happens.
 
Now that would be cool!

all within 5 miles or so...!
