Staples has the Maxtor 80gb 8mb HDD advertised for $109.98 in next weeks (1/05/2003 - 1/11/2003) flyer. Just apply your favorite $20 off $100 coupon :).

$109.98 Maxtor 80gb 8mb HDD
-$20.00 (your favorite $20 off $100 coupon)
----------
$89.98 + tax out the door

Not exactly the best price, but a great buy for people for who don't want to deal w/ a MIR.

Has anyone seen any reviews for this 8MB cache drive? Is it comparable to the Western Digital JB Special Edition?

The 8MB cache is the JB version I believe, I have a WD 120GB SE, fast as hell, the only problem I've had is theat the spinning sound can on occasion be a bit loud.

I just saw somebody use a $25 off $75 OD coupon when I stopped in to pick up a PS2 game, so if you have an OD nearby, you could save a bit more if you can find this coupon (I dunno where it is).

Looks like this will be a deal B&M only. Staples has the drive up, and they are using a 5-digit code coupon to take the $30 off. :| With their "no stack" policy, it will be easier to go to the local store, where it will already be $30 off without any bogus "coupon codes". Good luck.

That sucks about the way they're taking $30 off. I guess this might work out to be a good deal if you had a in-store coupon... I just tried adding the drive to my cart and then applying the 5 digit code they TELL you to apply with the drive (for the $30 off) and it's NOT working. Crap. I'm probably just gonna go in to the B&M tomorrow...

Oh well.

Well that certainly does suck. However, you can probably phone in an order and use a coupon code as well.
