Warm - Leadtek TV/FM Tuner

In our area, we need a cable box...I'm assuming this, or any consumer TV tuner card, will not be able to take advantage of TIVO-like software with automatic recording, etc.

Just another person throwing their support to the Leadtek card. I bought one a few weeks ago and have been very pleased with it. As phice2000 said, make sure to go to their website and d/l the newest software that gives TitanTV support.

I bought one of these cards 2 weeks ago, very happy with it....but 2 questions
Ive been recording in mpeg2, and the quality is good, but the filesizes are about 2gb per hour or so, anyone have a good setting for quality/file size? Ive tried the divx setting, but the audio is a little wacky, it anyone has the settings figured out could they share them?

Also, the titantv feature doesnt work for me, I go throught the steps and get a 'data is invalid' message, if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

My friend and I both bought one of the Leadtek cards about 2 weeks ago. We've been recording TV shows to our hard drive. Our plan was to burn them to DVD's and watch them that way. Unfortunately, we've had Zero success in everything we've tried. When we record the show as Mpeg2, Nero Vision won't let us burn them to DVD (invalid file type). If we record using the "DVD" setting (still mpeg2), we also get an error message.

Even worse, when we try to edit the program (take out the commercials, etc.), we use programs like TMPGEnc or Ulead VideoStudio6 and end up with out-of-sync audio & video we "re-encode" the separate streams.

Our only option at this point seems to be recording as "uncompressed avi," then going from there. This will give us one hour shows taking up 60 gigs a piece.

Either we're missing something here, or this whole "television show capture to burn to DVD" situation isn't quite ready for primetime.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

you're going to have to be more detailed..meaning computer specs, operating system and service packs....did you defragment? are you capping onto the same drive your os runs on? what software are you using to capture? there are tons of issues to consider with when you have a/v sync problems during cap not to mention that this card caps mpeg2 through software and not hardware

also try searching the forums in www.vcdhelp.com, tons of resources there

I haven't had any trouble with TMPGEnc and audio synch with the output from my Creative card. Are you editing the commercials out using the Source Range feature in TMPG? I'm not re-encoding the streams, just editing the source range.
