Right now I'm pretty focused on the Klipisch and Logitech 4.1'sand 5.1's. How do these compare to the Logitech Z560's?

Has anyone ordered/received these refurbs yet? If you read their definition of "B-Stock" it says:

  • - Factory refurbished to original performance specifications
    - These items may have some cosmetic imperfections
    - All units 100% Klipsch factory refurbished and tested
    - 90 day limited warranty
As long as they are sound new, I'm willing to over look a few scratches. Now if there's a gaping hole in the side of one of the satellites...

I HATE THESE SPEAKERS DONT BUY EM. ONCE YOU PLUG IT IN, THE SPEAKERS COME ALIVE AND UNPLUG THEMSELVES. THEN THEY ATTACK ANYTHING THEY SEE. THEY COME AFTER ANYONE AND EVERYONE. THEY ARE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS TO THE ELDERLY AND CHILDREN. ONCE I SAW THE SUBWOOFER JUMP ON THE HEAD OF A DOG AND THEN ALL THE SATELLITES CAME IN AND JOINED THEM. GO WITH THE CREATIVE LABS SPEAKERS. THEY ARE LESS DEADLY!

Honestly, I think the Z560s sound better, Also, when I had the old preamp it got dust in it and the speakers cracked and popped. so unless it has the new volume control with the headphone jack on the side, in 4 months your speakers are going to start to crackle when you change the volume and one of the speakers will start to lose connection sometimes.

i have a set of cambridge soundworks speakers. they recently started crackling. one tweeter in particular crackles very often - even when silent. additionally, this same speaker just completely cuts out sometimes. funny thing is, when the speaker works, it works fine.

can you explain what has happened. is it repairable?

i think i'll buy the Logitech Z-560 speakers in the near future.

btw, here's a link to many speaker reviews:

This is a very HOT deal. I have the 2.1's and LOVE them. They are the BEST sounding computer speakers I have ever heard! Then again, I have 10 other Klipsch speakers, so maybe I am a bit biased. The one thing I have to say though, is that the Klipsch BBS/forums at www.klipsch.com are AWESOME. BobG, one of Klipsch's audio engineers, along with 2 other guys surf the forums and answer users questions. They focus mainly on the home theater and commercial applications, however there is an entire section on the board just for the promedia series.

Klipsch is the only company to have THX certified speakers for movie theaters. I think they sound simply outstanding.

My only suggestion to anyone getting either of these set-ups is to get a cheap-o power strip and use that to swtich them on and off. To turn them off otherwise, you have to use the switch on the amplifier/subwoofer and that doesn't seem to be a good situation. Plus, I like putting the sub closer to my feet, than next to me, and I don't like climbing underneath my 'puter desk every time I want to turn them on/off.

My father also has the same set and loves it. He did get a defective one, and I believe that the 'refurb' ones have amplifiers that have been replaced. He said that his got really warm and then just plain stopped. Mine rig gets warm, but not excessively so.

There are several reviews out there for both the Klipsch and the Logitechs. I have the Logitechs and they are pretty nice. Loud, and a lot of bass. From what I have heard the logitechs bass is a little more boomy compared to the Klipsch. Either way, you can't go wrong. They are both great speakers. Logitech is coming out with a new line of 5.1 speakers so you might check them out too. They will likely be expensive though and deals on the 560's might be surfacing soon. I myself wouldn't worry about buying refurbs from Klipsch as I believe them to be a great company with solid products. Anyway, read the reviews and weigh the price before buying. I think that either way you'll be happy.

4.1's have the new pod and new crossovers, that was the upgrade from the v2-400

Notagain, try turning off your speakers. Then turn the volume knob back and forth fast for 20 seconds. Then turn it back on and see if that fixes it.

I don't know if yours is the same problem as mine.

Oh and with the old preamp I had, I bought it, got a new one warranty returned, then it started doing it, then I had to upgrade to the new control pod, you can buy one for $15 if you call them up and say yours cracks. So it isn't that big of a deal I guess. I still think the Z560's sounded better in Compusa, I would check it out.

Still dosent make the z560's sound any better IMO.
