Tiger Direct has the Kingston V300 120GB Solid State Drive - 2.5" Form Factor, SATA III, Up To 450MB/s Read Speed, Up To 450MB/s Write Speed (SV300S37A/120G)

$79.99-$20 MIR = $59.99

Unfortunately, it is no eligible for free shipping or shop runner 2 day shipping, so you have to pay a few extra bucks for TD's rip shipping.

Still, this is the lowest price I have seen them go. Recently, there were a couple of sales for $69.99. TD rebates have been good and very legit to me, usually end up getting them faster than any others without having to pay extra for the expedited processing.

Not bad, but homey don't pay shipping unless he can avoid it.

That is the cheapest 120 GB SSD yet from what I can tell. I got the Samsung evo 120 from TD for $74 after shipping and two rebates a week back. I hate that they take 8-10 weeks for rebates OR you can pay 10% extra to have it within a week. Seems a bit of a bait & switch.

These are the same one getting slammed by everybody for Kingston's unannounced switch to asynchronous NAND while the reviewed ones were synchronous therefore, much faster. No wonder the prices are dropping - no one's buying them. If you get v506/521 as opposed to v505/507/520, return it.

bought one for a build at microcenter for 69 no rebate v300 120 might still be going on microcenter has been kicking internet and bm butt on in store stuff and bundles lately. wonder if you can get the rebate from the manufacturer on top of that. bought this since missed the evo deal and needed to get the rig up..

I have filed 3 TD HDD rebates so far. I usually receive them within a month without having to pay additional $$$ for the expedited processing, which is faster than 90% of the other rebates I have filed.

seems pretty good. the V300 is sandforce too, not one of those other brand controllers in some kingston drives (like the V200was jmicron)

I have 3 Kingston SSDs, from the V100+ to a V200, but after reading Anand's review that AkumaX linked, I won't in good faith recommend them to enthusiasts.

They are fine for consumers, as ANY SSD will handily beat any HDD, but its just too shady to pull that move and retain a good name in the SSD market as it stands.

just to pile on... shady this and that aside, these drives are great for netbooks and cheap laptops... they are plenty fast and don't crash when the thing gets dropped or banged about... and as a 'mom pc' c: drive upgrade to an old pc (put all the junk on old drive) they are like getting a whole new system most of the time (as long as you aren't really out of memory)...

what you want it for and what your price point is are big factors here...

This price is only like $10 less than some of the deals that pop up but its like 50% slower. I dont think its a good deal at all.

I agree, this is basically a 2nd gen SSD (if we're on 4th/5th gen), and will still spank any spinning 5400/7200rpm HDD.

It's just the shady business practices that irk me.

For example, SanDisk makes 3 lines of SSD's, "Basic", Ultra, and Extreme.

I see this SanDisk 64GB/128GB SSD go on sale every now and then, and if it doesn't say the word Ultra or Extreme, I assume its the "Basic" model and I'm usually right.
The "Basic" model is the slowest of the bunch, with 8000 IOPS (vs 30000 IOPS for Ultra and 50000 IOPS for Extreme).
I still buy them to replace old SATA2 machines (mom's, old laptops, whatever), and I'm fully aware at the lower performance, but they still work fine.

However, SanDisk never switched their Extreme's toggle nand and put "basic" nand in there, and continued to call it Extreme..

world is mean, unfair... check... still need to live in... check... buyer beware... check... glad people like y'all are keeping an eye on things to help give more data points for decisions... check...

So this adds more proof to the notion that this has indeed had a NAND change. And, yeah, it will still meet its advertising speeds, but this was changed since all the reviewers got the drive. I hope it's something Kingston won't repeat, as it has irritated a lot of potential buyers and it did scare me toward a different brand.
