Nice first deal, a few observations:

1) Windows 2000 Pro, good.
2) TFT, very good at least it's not HPA.
3) A 13.3" screen would have been nice but 12.1 is fine considering it's only $799.
4) No built-in 10/100 Ethernet :(
5) 3 years warranty is great.
6) 3.1 pounds, light!
7) Too bad video graphics isn't 8MB ATI but this isn't meant as a gaming rig.

Nice deal for a budget laptop, almost as hot as the i1370 C4Sure was selling for $789.

Don't forget to place your warehouse.com order through eBates.com

CF slot? That's kinda cool what other uses besides a digital camera and PDA would you use that slot for?

I guess the only advantage digital camera wise is it means no USB card reader or digicam-to laptop via USB cable which is slow.

I believe this model has an 800x600 display, not 1024x768. It was the original low end model and is obsolete a couple of times over by newer models. Unless lightweight is a major consideration, I do not recommend this machine (and I really like the X20).

RossMan, Ive taken to using CF cards like zip disks, especially with the low prices on 128 and 256mb CF cards you can transfer a lot of data from your desktop by way of a jumpshot cable or USB CF reader.

tigerdirect lower their price on the x20 to $799 also.
I believe the last I check microwarehouse, the X20 is out of stock.

\I bought one of these machines on the Egghead.com auction site. They're okay unless you are planning to watch movies. The resolution is not the best for movies. The microdrive slot was an added bonus, because it allowed me to install software without a cdrom drive (else, I would have had to subscribe to one of the ISPs that had software preinstalled (Earthlink is not one of them and I refuse to allow AOL to clog my hard drive.)

IBM has some of the best warranties in the business and their customer service is great. Of course, this is not my sole notebook computer. It saves my back on those long hauls.:);)

"Expensive floppy alternatives" allow me to keep photos from my digital camera on the same memory device as my mp3s, and my Pocket PC data, games, and back up files. I can keep an extra storage device in my wallet without noticable bulk.

Actually this does have a integrated 10/100 nic. I have one of the X20s with the same setup except it has win98 and mine does have integrated 10/100. I think its a great little laptop, and it even runs CS at about 25 fps in OpenGL at 640X480. Its made real well which makes this a great deal
