Well it does kick ass (especially the vivo.) Oh well, guess I just haven't been up to date on which card is which these days.

Another bump for a still good deal.

actually, yesterday, I was at a best buy shop in salem NH and I noticed that they had ATI Radeon X850 XT PE's for 300 bucks so I'm going back today

This might not be true at all stores, but they are certainly mixed up.

I think it might be that their ATI Radeon X850 XT PE image is somehow digitally linked with their label ATI Radeon X850 PRO and so if you buy a ATI Radeon X850 XT PE, it'll show up at the register as a ATI Radeon X850 PRO with the appropriate discounts. This is only a theory which demands further research :)

Im looking on ATI's website and the specs show that the X850 Pro has 16 pipelines also and a higher clock rate than the XL.

The Pro only has 12 Pipes, but is clocked some 140MHz higher than the XL. I also think it has some OC headroom above that, but I'm not sure (the XL doesnt OC much). I personally liked the x800Pro because it was a real nice OCer, so, I really wouldnt mind having an x850pro over an xl (however, I do have an XL..)

well that x850 xt pe was gone...the guy I talked to (who was really cool and let me get 2 sticks of ram yesterday and today) said that they do sometimes get the x850 xt pe's and they only come in rarely. I asked to see if any were coming in soon and he said no, so I guess someone got a good deal. Good for them :)

I got one yesterday and flashed the XT Bios.

I now have 16 pipes and the faster core / memory and no artifacts with ATITool.

I went to my local BB today and they had one of those "We made a mistake" things next to this item. SO no joy here :(

http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/100

I did have one blue screen later the next day. I'm going to play around with the setup and see what speed I get from the default bios and the higher clock speeds. ATI Tool didn't see problems even with higher than the tweaked bios speeds. So YMMV on the stability of it.

Currently I just play WoW so it isn't a big deal if it OC's or not.
