Was it that brand that went out of buisiness? 🙂

Anyone ever read those "Lifetime warranty" small print?

The fx 5200 that I had bought for one of my kids computers stated that the card had a lifetime warranty. Great I thought. yeah right. Reading the fine print, the "lifetime warranty" was only as long as the card was in production. It stated that the manufacture would replace the card for as long as that card was in production and available for sale.
Whats that these days, a year or so? I forget the name, but it was from the vendor that sells their nvidia cards in the x shaped box.

Read the fine print of your lifetime warranty paperwork. Some may say this, others may actually be a lifetime warranty.

YMMV

I went for this - just RMA'ed it this morning... DOA

Are Computer Geeks bad for refurbished items ? I would have thought they would do at least basic tests before shipping something out again. The heatsik/fan casing showed a few bashes/scratches.

I just RMA'd a Ti4200 back to Newegg. I'm not sure, but I think more and more refurbed video cards will be arriving DOA. I say this because I think more and more people are becoming PC savy (i.e., more people buying video cards actually KNOW how to install the cards so when they send back a card it's truely because the card does not work VS. sending it back because they couldn't figure out how to install it correctly).

Still, some refurbed cards will work simply because some people order cards, change their minds, and send them back.

JMO though.

I've tried buying 1 refurbed video card....and it was my last.

Well, the replacement card they cross-shipped is in my system, and working fine - so I guess it's down to luck of the draw, with no idea what the odds are.

Still, for $99 I'm not complaining - makes a great, reasonably priced, card for X2.

What is DVI-I? Digital Video Interface-?? In?

And who makes this card?

Both the cards I got were made by MSI.

DVI-I is one of the possible types of DVI connector - it provides both analog and digital outputs, so lets you use a simple ($3 on ebay) adaptor to get a second VGA output using the analog pins, or lets you connect a flat panel display to it using the digital pins.

There's a good diagram of the different connector types here :

Ok, sounds like the I doesn't stand for "In". I'm looking for a VIVO card, so it looks like I'll have to pass on this one.

Refurb and only a 180 day warranty. Are warranties for refurb parts typically that short?

sound more than fair

Newegg, for example give you a 15 day warranty on refurb parts

Just fyi, if you are looking for VIVO on a ti4600, consider the ti4800. I haven't seen VIVO on a ti4600(not to say it isn't out there), but I picked up a refurb ti4800 VIVO from newegg for 105 (haven't got yet, so that could end up more moan than brag). The ti4800 is the exact same card as the ti4600 - *not* to be confused with the ti4800SE which is the same card as a ti4400.

PNY does this. BFG has full lifetime warranty
