it's a serial external modem, it'll work with anything, I already have one, it's great for backups😀

Has anybody else had problems connecting with this modem? Anybody have any troubleshooting advice? I can hear it start to connect and then the signal is just dropped and it disconnects. Does this on two differenct computers. Bad modem or windows problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

I wonder if I just got a bad one then:|. It will connect to a slower server at school but then why get a 56K modem. My father would connect faster with the crappy winmodem already in the computer. I was hoping to speed things up for him. Anybody deal with returning stuff to comp geeks. How easy are they to contact?

It could be the phone lines, If your phone company uses parabit (not sure if that is spelled correct or not) you can only connect at 28.8 with parabit Ph lines not matter what kind of modem you got! It also could be dirty phone lines (if there is lots of line noise)

But that wouldn't explain why I can connect to the faster servers with my pci winmodems. Unless these modems are more susceptible to line noise than the pci modems I have. Either way it is dissappointing and they are going back or being replaced. Thanks for the info anyways.
