WARM - Excellent prices on A/V cables

Check out svideo.com for some excellent prices on A/V cables.

Just bought a 3m (~10ft) Toslink for $12 w/ Free USPS shipping.

They also have a pretty cool RCA <-> S-Video one-piece cable, perfect for everyone that
runs their TV to the PC.

No reseller rating, and never done business with them before, nor can I vouch for the quality of said cables, so I'll be the guinea pig and let everyone know how this turns out.

Check out mcmelectronics.com for high-quality and cheap toslink cables. Their 5M cables are only $11. Shipping is additional, but totally reasonable. They have other kinds of cables too, but their toslink is hard to beat.

Anyone know where to get a composite to svideo adapter/cable anywhere other than svideo.com? It's $30.. ouch. All I want to do is be able to watch TV through my VCR on my MSI 8822 GF3. It's got an svideo in, but my VCR and Dreamcast and stuff all have just the regular RCA style composite video connector. Ugh.

slash - those things are hard to find. i got mine with my radeon 8500, it's exactly what you're looking for. maybe you can try calling ati and seeing if you can buy a "replacement," otherwise, look on ebay, they've bound to have it.

Im really into hometheater and let me tell you. Just go out to bestbuy and pick up the Acoustic Research brand. They make high quality stuff for a good price!

Best Buy sells the low end AR stuff and their prices are stupid high. Go to http://www.accessories4less.com/index.asp for AR cables. Awesome pricing, descent shipping. I replaced all cables in my home theater with these. I did a lot of searching for the best price and this was it.

Just a follow-up on svideo.com.

Ordered on Sunday night, shipped Monday, arrived today via USPS standard (free S&H).
Looks like svideo is out of Wyoming, but this had a shipping address of Texas. Came in a
bubble-pack mailer. Very nice quality Toslink cable with RCA/Component-like housing around
the optical connectors.

Rather than having the standard 4-pin s-video connection, my laptop has a 7-pin s-video jack (4 where the standard video signals are found, and 3 additional in the center). I'm guessing that these 3 extra pins (2 channels + ground ?) are to carry the audio signal in one cable, but would anyone know where to find one? And how much?

I'd *really* like to get a cable to output DVDs and presentations.

personally i use almost entirely AR cables, i think they are a great price/performance value cable. i liked their older cables better than the new ones, they seem cheaper. i loaded up locally on the old ones when sears clearanced them a few months ago!

Agreed on mcmelectronics.com. They've been a favorite of hoem theater DIYers for quite awhile. The toslinks are a great price.

As for avconnect.com & accessories4less.com, both are also reputable sites for audio.video cables.
