*WARM* eVGA 6800 $250 AR at Circuit City!

Outpost.com has had the BFG 6800 OC for $250 + ship for a long time now also, no rebates to deal with. It says call for availability but everyone that I know that has ordered one has received it.

Hmmm, that's tempting. I might get it from them then if that's the case. Maybe this isn't as hot as I thought it was. 😱

Really? I have been holding off on ordering due to the 'call for availability' message.

Well... based on your statement I will give it a shot. Just ordered. Thx!

Call for availabiltiy means the item will be on backorder 99% of the time.
If you need it and don't mind waiting in the queue just order and you should get it soon. Sometimes they have delays due to the late shipment of items.

The benefit here is the eVGA is much quieter than the BFG 6800.

I have to add that eVGA probably has a better bundle, but not by much.

But no tax for a lot of people who are ordering from outpost.com

the 6800OC... is that below the 6800GT, and above the 6800?

The OC means it is OCed right out of the box. So yes you can say 6800 GT > 6800 OC > 6800.
What you want is a 6800 OC or 6800 that can be unlocked. Meaning the user unlocks the 4 other pipelines with rivatuner. You can't tell if a certain card can be unlocked unless you actually try it. My BFG 6800 OC failed the unlock. Chances of getting one to unlock is merly ok to not so good.

Really? As far as I can tell the eVGA card only comes with a driver CD. The BFG 6800 OC comes with Far Cry which is nice as you could always sell it for $20 or so if you don't want it. I got in on the Best Buy deal in December but what sold me on BFG was the tech. support and lifetime warranty. You can actually call them 24/7 and talk to someone in the US and I have heard nothing but good things about BFG's customer service. A guy on Hardocp RMA'ed a Fx5950 and received a 6800GT as a replacement. I think it's a no brainer, plus it is default clocked 25 Mhz higher on the GPU than other 6800s.

If the eVGA was $199 (Like the PNY 6800 has been a couple times at CompUSA) then this would be a different story, but since it's the same price as the 6800 OC I think it's a better way to go. Just my opinion though, I think about anyone upgrading from something old will be very happy with the performance boost on any 6800NU and it seems like the chances of being able to successfully unlock to 16x1/6vp is pretty good across all brands.
