7-in-1 USB Card Reader *** FREE After $14.99 Rebate Offer *** ( Qty Limited )
Perfect for Reading Digital Media from Your PDAs, Digital Cameras & MP3 Players. (CompactFlash Type I and II, SD Card, MMC Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, & SmartMedia Formats

It's not really "free after rebate" because the shipping is $8 for ground or (2nd day) and $10 for Fedex Overnight. If you need one of these right away, it's a pretty good deal. One of these for $8 isn't too shabby even if you aren't in a hurry, but not the best deal ever, either.

Here is where to click

48 in stock, 66 hours left for this price

(well only 33 left now, as of this last edit)

Its ecost. So theres another $3.95 "handling" fee applied to your order on top of the $8 ship. I hate that store.

You should put "Ecost" in the topic, just like we put TD for Tiger Direct etc.

Also your title is a lie -- you should put $12-14 AR since its really $15 + $8-10 ship + $ 4 handling - $15 rebate = $12-14.

circuit city has the dazzle 10 in 1 for $12AR (free shipping. saw the deal on B$.

thanks

I started this out as lukewarm, then did a search and found that it was better than lukewarm, in fact pretty good, then saw your post and found out it was $12-$14 and not $8-$10 and have changed it to warm... thanks for info about ecost fee, I didn't even catch that - that's a bunch of crap, but it's still a good deal.

Agreed... eCost has the nerve to add on a significant fee which almost always makes them more expensive than other shops.

It's terribly sneaky... while other shops give a price up front that is (their cost)+(their overhead) which makes them some profit while staying competitive, eCost throws on significant overhead charges ONLY at the last screen of the purchase confirmation process. ("to help cover our warehousing, order processing, systems and overhead costs").

I mean, are we supposed to feel sorry for them that they have these business costs, and just accept them?

Handling & Processing Fee (From eCost.com)

We charge a "handling & processing fee" on most transactions in order to help cover our warehousing, order processing, systems and overhead costs. This fee also includes a very small profit on the transaction and is calculated at Checkout based upon your order size.

We apply the fee to each order as follows:

Total Product: Fee
$0.00 - 50.00: $3.95
$50.01 - 100.00: $4.95
$100.01 - 200.00: $5.95
$200.01 - 300.00: $6.95
$300.01 - 400.00: $6.95
$400.01 - 500.00: $6.95
$500.01 - 1,000.00: 1.1%
$1,000.01 +: 1%

Thanks HH. I am not making any declaration that the deal is hot or warm or cold, just saying, I like to know that deals are @ Ecost ahead of time - I avoid that store just like TD and Global etc.

This handling fee practice makes me feel like I'm dealing with a used car salesman. Also the "one rebate per week" thing annoys me too.

I checked that deal, it's $20AR now, CC raised it's price, and according to someone on that site, the item is OOS

As for other comments which seemed pretty unanimous, I'll endeavor to put the company's name in the subject on future posts.

Oh, and there are 17 of these left now. I guess some people think it's a good. I can see why some would avoid this place, with a pretty much flat out $14 bucks added to every order ($10 for the shipping (or $8) and $4 for the gay fee). That reader is worth $14, though, if you have a use for it, and I don't see any other deal currently going that beats this (though I am sure something will sooner or later)
