now that ebay has monopolized the market and destroyed all the little guys, they can raise their prices to whatever they feel like.

Yeah, here we go with Microsoft monopoly situation again.

What are alternative big auction sights and what can be done to help them give eBay a run for their $ ?

No, it's 50% off the listing fees

no, i think it is only 50% off fixed priced listings and not for auction styled ones. So you gotta either have to do fixed price or pay normal price for an auction-styled listing w/ free buy it now option.

Even with the jacked up prices it will usually cost no more than 10% to sell your item. Considering 10% is the standard for real life auctions I dont think its unreasonable.

umm.. Up until now there hasn't been any b/c ebay bought them out before they could develop. The last big contender/hopeful was gegy.com but they ended up having to tie into ebay.

And speaking of microsoft, ebay and m$ have gotten really tight in the last year or so... I really expected this after I got one of my auctions pulled. I bought some m$ software 100% legitimately then decided that I wasn't going to use it and put it on ebay. They pulled it saying it broke their VeRO policy. Well, I was legitmately selling it according to their VeRO notice, but the only option I had was to contact m$. yeah, that would work.
