i signed up with directv from Expert Satellite last november and have been 99% happy with them!

i get notifications of new promotions from them and this is their new one:

Get Four Months FREE* of DIRECTV's best programming package -

TOTAL CHOICE® PREMIER with Local Channels, including: 7 HBO® channels, 12 STARZ&® Super Pak channels, 9 SHOWTIME UNLIMITED Channels, 3 CINEMAX channels and over 140 popular entertainment channels like Fox News Channel, USA Network, and ESPN. That's more than 205 channels and over $360 of FREE programming! Get all this when subscribe to the exclusive 2004 NFL Sunday Ticket (4 payments of $62.25), the biggest selection of NFL games anywhere, including select games
in HD.

Plus, get up to 4 Rooms FREE* including FREE Professional Installation! That's all the equipment your customers will need to get started with DIRECTV. Not only that, we'll throw-in a FREE DVD player as special bonus after mail-in rebate, with free handling and delivery after rebate too!

i think after the first 4 months, you will have to pay 80 a month, but you might be able to downgrade to total choice plus which is about 40 a month. but with this deal you will get NFL sunday ticket almost for free!

I'm going to sign up very soon. I basically look at it like this since I want NFL Sunday Ticket. I normally would be paying 42.99 for Total Choice Plus. So, I'm getting NFL Sunday Ticket for $77 instead of $250 plus Total Choice Premier for 4 months.

Were you happy with your installation? Did they fish any wires for you? I want to get Tivo, but I'll need a second coaxial run. My house is new and I don't really want coaxial cable run on the outside of walls. Is there a charge for this? Any one with expereince. I'm wondering where I should go to sigh-up. Thanks!

i was VERY happy with the installation company. they were courteous, and did a pretty good job. they even gave me almost 100 ft of cable so i can install my second line for the tivo. they charge on a per hour basis i think for fishing cables, and it is pretty expensive but i think they should be able to handle it if you don't wires running on the outside of hte house

during my installation, they would have had to run wires on the outside of the house to get to the dish, but since our basement is unfinished, they drilled some holes in the foundation walls, ran the cables on the inside of where the wall meets the cieling, and hid the cables very neatly. they then caulked the holes so nothing can get in or out.

like i said though, make sure you aren't locked into the premium service, so that you can downgrade to plus after the 4 months

also, get the tri-lnb dish, that way you'll be prepared for HD

Any Canadian Customers done this before?

I live in Canada and directv is not available where I live, and the Canadian equivalent is sh*t.

I love DirectTV programming and would to subscribe, and maybe get this deal or one of those 6 receiver deals.. but without a US address how can I?

This is actually a very hot deal for anyone looking to sign up for DirecTV. I did this deal last year and it was actually a little better because you could get the DirecTV setup with a DirecTivo for about $49 intstead of $99.

As for the installation questions, it's really hit or miss. Some of the installation guys are really good. Some of them are not. Make sure you are present during the install or else they will do whatever is easiest for them and not whats best for you.

You should be able to downgrade your service after the 4 months... thats what I did last year. You will get spoiled while you have everything.

If you are on the fence about the Tivo... GET THE TIVO. I can not live without mine. I travel a lot now with my new job so the tivo is a lifesaver.

Checkout my sig for more details.

My one year committment is about to be up in late august...does anyone here know of people canceling directv and signing up again to get the sunday ticket deal?

Directv is the best deal out there. You get all the channels for free for 4 months, get to watch all the football you want, and after the four months you can select Total Choice ($39). You cant beat that deal.

Actually, it's pretty hard to do this... DirecTV keeps decently good records on previous customers. It's not like Columbia House where you can cancel your membership at noon and at 12:05 open a new account as a "new customer."

They base their "new account" status on 3 or 4 different criteria. Don't quote me on this but I think it is something like:
1. name
2. address
3. credit card number
4. phone number.

So... if you have moved, sign up under your wifes name on her credit card and use your cell phone or a second line as the contact number, you may actually be able to pull this off.... 😉

Thats just what I have heard from other folks on the net... have never personally tried it.
