3Com recently lowered the price of the Palm IIIxe to $199 (this is the 8 meg version- now a better deal than the Visor!). Anyway, Staples has it for $199.98. Add a .89 cent gel pen (they're cool :) I got a purple one), use the $40 off $200 and the total comes out to $160.87 + free shipping.

BTW- Where's all the coupons? Nobody but Staples has them anymore :(

I don't understand why people always post so-called deal for Staples with coupon unless you live in one of those very few states that Staples doesn't collect sales tax.

If you consider the salex tax (8.25 NY, 8% CA, 6% Nj, etc.), especially the tax on the rebate amount that you won't get, all deals become warm with simply a regular coupon.

It sucks when you have a peachtree $150 software free after rebate that you have to pay $12-13 tax. True you'll make $17-18 after $30 off coupon, you'll have to spend on the stamps, time to follow-up the rebate, forzen cash flow, and run into a risk that the rebate check get lost or stolen (e.g. mail theft problems in NYC), and you're out $$130 for a few months trying to make ~$17 with a software that you may not need.

What state does Staples not collect in? I live in LA, which does not have one Staples store, yet I have to pay sales tax.

Well...it's better than retail price, you'd have to pay tax for retail, and it IS this absolute cheapest you can buy a Palm IIIxe for. If you don't want it, don't buy it.

I think the tax thing is done if a retailer has an operation in your state. I know, that blows.
