I have the YSTMS30's, they woulda been about $10 overall with the computes4sure rebates and the yamaha rebate, but I never got the yamaha one back (sent in July).

Sound ok, but the sub doesn't handle the bass of hard rock and rap well. Just my 2 cents tho.

These are pretty good speakers. I had them under a desk and the bass was more than sufficient. It would shake the walls, which is pretty good for something that is fairly compact.

Heh, I got these exact same speakers sometime around in the winter for $27 shipped brand new from computers4sure.com. It was only around $87, and through brandsforless rebates which refunded shipping and another $30, i was able to get it down to $57, then yamaha had a $30 rebate, which brought it down to $27. Got all the rebates, too. The bass is so powerful that the rest of my family complains about it, so i have to leave it at half power :/ , and that's coming from the basement in a decently big house.

I had a pair of altec lansing powercubes (ACS43 i think) before, (they went dead after only 6-8 months, but i got 'em from circuit city, so i took it in stride, couldn't find my receipt (sent it to get rebate)) and I couldn't really tell any difference at all between the speakers other than that the yamaha speakers' bass is so powerful it'll blow your clothes off (to quote fabio, when he was on conan o'brien.) $27 was incredibly hot, and i have to thank this board for the deal, but $50 is rather nice, too...i wonder why they raised the price so much, though.

Oh yeah, on the back of the sub, right underneath the power switch, there's a bunch of text (model #, etc etc) and it says it's 65 watts, not 40. I was surprised when I found that, cuz the specsheet does say 40 watts. Oh well, bonus!

Read on for praise for Yamaha computer speakers...

I have the YSTMS30W speakers, which are 2 x 6W satellites and 1 x 18W sub. I'd say they are pretty good for music, but the sats are really directional and they sound sorta like they're in a can. The sub is a little weak, so these aren't that great for movies. On the other hand, they are really well integrated and despite the can thing they are the best sounding computer speakers for music that I've ever heard for under $150, and the MS30W run about $50 most places.

Here's a Gamespot review, giving 4/5 stars at the MSRP of $130:

If you can pull this off, this is a really nice price. These are the market leaders in the ~$100 price category, IMO--and I'm pretty familiar with the market. Very, very loud for the money.

wouldn't it be rather difficult to pricematch it with onvia.com? i have only successfully been able to pricematch with them once and after that.. seems that we cannot do it anymore from the numerous staples CSR's that i have spoken to.... otherwise... it would be a decent deal... =\
