First of all, I wanna apologize if this has been posted before (although I didn't see any of this past few days).
I just got a Cell phone out of necesities, and decided to pay Sprint a visit.
to make a story short, the salesman says there's a temporary deal on Motorola StarTac Talkabout T8167.It is onsale for $129 (regular $229) and there's a $20 rebate ($50 if you do 1 year contract).

He said that it has been selling like hotcakes since they had the promotion.
Since that is one of the better phones for Sprint (IMHO I think other looks crappy)
I bought it and do a 1 yr contract.

BTW, if the sales person said that the promotion for 500 (250 of it is off-peak minutes) long distance minutes for $29.99 is over on Sep 30, just tell him to check at the sprintpcs website because it has been extended to Nov 5. Plus, you can ask him to give you one day free, because usually the contract doesn't start until the next day, so you can get 250 minutes free for one day, go binge phoning :)

You can either choose 500 min or 250 long distance with wireless Web, pretty good deal for me. You can choose your own number before activation (I'm not sure on this). If anyone find a better sprint deal let me know, because I can still change my contract.
BTW, I am NOT Sprint pcs sales person.

I got 1000 minutes for $29.99. However, I ended up paying $299 for Timeport. :(

Sounds like a pretty darn good deal...I'm looking to switch from Verizon. I'll head over to the Sprint store tomorrow! :)

Are any of these deals on the website? Didn't seem like it. Or
do you have to call and ask?

The regular retail on the Talkabout is $199.99!
And where is the link to this deal for 129.99?

There's no link because this deal is at SprintPCS B&M store.
I should have said this before, sorry guys.
And I live in Tempe, Arizona and the deal is at I-10 and Ray Rd store, they said they only have 2 more left but other SprintPCS store supposed to have this deal too.
I think this deal is exclusive for Official SprintPCS store only. So if your area doesn't have the deal try to let them know about this deal.

Argo,
is your 1000 minutes for local call only ?
Mine is 250 anytime long distance minutes (option 1) and free wireless web (option 2)
or there are other choices that could bump up the minutes if you don't need long distance and wireless web.

Grrrr . . . way to get me to go to the SprintPCS equipment site. The Motorola ST7867W for which I paid $229 a month ago is now $149. Ah well . . . a pretty dang good deal at that price IMHO.

All of Sprint's minutes are the same, there are no "local" or "non-local" minutes. They had that 1000 minutes promotion like a month ago or something. Don't know if they still have it.:D:|

We just signed up for Sprint PCS yesterday with two phones. They gave us for $29.99: 250 anytime nationwide minutes, 250 nationwide n/w, and 250 internet access (though its not working yet). The other phone we decided to skip the internet and got 250 anytime and 500 n/w, both nationwide (i.e. w/long distance). I thought it was pretty decent deal. If you use all the minutes, that's like 4 cents a minute. Who needs a land phone?

$129 for a StarTAC is pretty good, though I don't really like the color. A little fruity to me. Anyway, good find. I happen to think that most of Sprint's phones look good. Maybe if this deal was out 2 months ago, I would have gotten this instead of the Motorola v.8162 for $379. I know it's expensive, but damn is it a nice phone. I'm still on the old Radio Shack 1000 mins for $29.99 deal. I was going to get on the new promo, but they got rid of the first incoming minute free. oh well.

My talkabout has worked flawless... even after being dropped many of times.. that is a great price... Too bad Sprint doesn't have the 2000 minutes for 75 a month anymore...
