Warm deal on Firewire 80GB HD: CompUSA

$219.99 minus $10 instant savings minus alleged $30 rebate.

It's a crap shoot on the actual mechanism. It's also a crap shoot on the $30 rebate (and the warranty).

CompUSA item

Manufacturer page is here. Who is ACOMdATA? Beats me. Probably a re-badger (like Prime Peripherals... remember them?) No info on Hoovers.com, and when you try to click on the "about us" link, nothing happens. The only link that works is a phone number.

It's about time these started coming down in price, though I wish this was a brand name.

Hard to beat this price, even if you got a separate case from Geeks link and then got a 80 GB HD separately.

However, the rebate is through TCA, so consider it $209.99 and your lucky day if you ever see the rebate.

Hmmm... I got the 40.gb USB 2.0 atacom drive from last weeks deal of $129.00 after rebates and other stuff and this included the adaptec 4-port USB 2.0 card.

the drive unit is pretty nice. it's put together well... and it's ultra quiet. the unit I have uses a samsung drive.

the do offer a 3 or 5 year waranty... these guys aren't that bad... but I guess it's to be seen how this lasts through the years.

my father got the hd, it seems nice but tried looking for a review found nothing, no reviews of AcomData products what so ever, but it seems like a decent deal.
