Let me know if you know of a better deal on this quality/speed drive. $89 shipped without any rebates hassles seems very fair?

PLEASE post any other drive deals that are better cause i'm about to order one to build a system.

Is it an OEM drive? How about waranty? Some people over the storage review said most of this drive comes in OEM package.....

So beware.....

this seems like a hot deal to me. Why should I be beware of OEM? Isn;t the only difference the packaging and maybe some freebie softwarez?

I got the 30Gb 75GXP a few weeks ago. OEM. Comes as the plain
drive. No mounting brackets (to adapt for a 5" drive slot). No
IDE ribbon. No installation software. No manual. No mounting
screws.

If you're installing in a standard 3.5" drive slot, and you already
have the cable, then this is probably perfectly fine. If not, you'll
need to spring a few bucks for the necessary accessories.

This is a nice drive. I might get one just for the hell of it...

The Ata/100 is only needed if u don't have enough ide connections right?

ATA/100 I think is only necessary if you have either an ATA/100 controller card, or an ATA/100 compatible mobo. I think Abit's KT133 based socketA board is gonna have it. Otherwise, you're stuck with ata/66. Darn :) Anyrate, hot deal, if I didn't already have a Maxtor 7200 rpm ATA/66 I paid more for :(

I hope this one won't be on back ordered. I ordered an IBM 30 gig last week and it was said to be in stock when I ordered them. Check back in a days and it was backorder.

IBM does not sell 'retail' drives per se to the best of my knowledge. They honor 3 year manuf's warranty on all of their OEM drives. I've RMA'd my OEM drives twice with them way past the 1 year mark, minimal hassle. I love their drives by the way.

I just ordered two of these. I also got a Plextor 8432 a couple days ago. Buy.com offers great deals and this free shipping is also wonderful. Now all I have to do is cross my fingers to get my RAID to work with WIN2k! If anyone has experience in this let me know.

Thanks and happy RAIDING

these IBMs are the best drives around.

I dont know how or why on earth someone would rate the maxtors and western digitals as better than the IBM GXP models. My 20g is the most reliable consistent fast ata66 drive i have ever owned.

Does anybody know if an ATA100 drive be used with an ATA66 controller? I really don't want to buy a controller card, and I would be happy with an ATA66 for this price.
