Has anyone used this product?
This CDRW even have BURN-proof technology...
Is there any review of this product?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

This drive sucks because it's not Plextor (J/K that just seems to be the attitude around here lately.) It sounds like a pretty good drive. There's only one way to find out if it's good or not, try it out!

Hey, few months ago I heard someone HERE AT ANANDTECH said the 8x4x32x drive is Plextor. I'm not sure about this one. If it is Plextor then this is HOT HOT DEAL!

Interesting the QPS web site only shows a fire wire version external with that speed.
Shows it is distributed by ingram micro.
2 meg buffer
Direct cd and EZ cd creator standard.
Eggheads site, doesn't show.
Is this a rebadged drive or produced by the company.?

If you go to Gateway and do a side-by-side comparison of this and the Plextor you will see there are three minor differences aside from the name (I don't like gawdy names on components anyway). Weight - .01 pounds difference. Buffer - plex has 2MB , qps has 4MB. Access speed difference of a few millisecs.

I'm almost positive it is a Plextor made drive for QPS. It could be that QPS also has a few Teac made units marked the same, but not sure on that suspicion.

Been eyeballing this drive for days at Gateway: with a discount code, the free shipping, and adding a 3 pack of cdrw discs the price is almost the same as this deal after rebate.

I've emailed QPS to find out who the OEM for the unit is, but no response yet. Maybe tomorrow. Rebate ends 31 March.

In the past, all QPS CD-RWs that CompUSA carried were rebadged Plextors. If these are rebadged Plextors, the serial number placard on the box will have a line that begins with TLA # - followed by a four-digit number.

looking good, now if i can just find those 25 dollar gift certificates from onsale and mail them in.... would be another 75 bucks off!!!

i dunno about this drive,
but i did get the QPS from CompUSA.

It was a rebadged plextor (the drive actually says Plextor on the placard.

anyways, my drive only had a 2mb buffer, while the same plextor drive had a 4mb buffer.

strange.
check to see if this drive has a smaller buffer too.

also, if it matters to anyone, my QPS rebadged plextor just died on me. but they have excellent tech support. hopefully i'll be getting a new one.

Well, is it true that all the QPS drives are Plextors? If so, then that's really great!
That means this could be a pretty decent deal after rebate since all those Creative rebadges are out of stock nearly everywhere.

QPS 32/12/10 drive @ Outpost for $159.95 after $30 rebate (yes! free overnight shipping!) 🙂

QPS 32/12/10 drive

Sounds like a good deal.. but i don't know man..
Do you guys think QPS CDRW is quality product? Is it rebadged Plextor?
I hope so...

It is NOT true that ALL QPS drives are Plextors. Some of their units are made my Mitsumi and others by Teac. If you go to their web page and look in support you will see my source. I have yet to hear from them (should have called them today) but I'm convinced this particullar 16/10/40 IS a Plextor mechanism. Their model numbers tend to closely follow that of the OEMs. This one's is very like the Plex.

Provided it's a Plextor (and it seems pretty clear it is), you aren't going to need 16X discs. Using the right software, the drive will always try to write as fast as you want it to. My Plextor 16x so far hasn't made a coaster on a wide variety of media, much of it "8x rated" discs.

derek, if you got in that OfficeMax 200 CDRs free after rebate deal, those CDRs are 16x.

MontyBurns, that's good news as I've a lot of 8x left and I'm going to get this drive.
