I recently bought a 9100 Crucial Refurb and it has artifacts. Be aware that if you return it, they will only give you store credit minus the shipping. I've never had any problems with any new Crucial products.

Ugh. Was it an A5, or an A6, if you recall?

I'm amazed that they shipped my $19.99 card with free shipping via UPS Blue. That had to cost at least $10 just for the shipping. Can't beat service like that!

I ordered two, one is good, one is bad.. 🙁

tried it in two different systems, two different OS's.

both are A5's

Now to see how the RMA goes...

Blah.

Now I have to RMA my A5 9100. It works perfectly in Windows, but in DOS/BIOS mode, it's massive checkerboards and totally unviewable. I can't even read the screen.

Ugh.

I'd suggest bypassing these. I bought one of these 7500s. It was defective - lots of artifacts. Crucial's answer was to give me a store credit that has a 1yr expiry. There is a thread at Obese Wallet that has many others explaining the same issue. I had always been pleased with Crucial up to this point. I would have taken a replacement; but it was out of stock & they will not provide refund.

I placed an order for a 7500 then that same day I also placed an order for a 9100 A5.

I paid $20 shipped for the 7500 around $34 for the 9100 I think. But they must of gotten confused & or ran out of the 7500's because they sent me a 9100 A6 for the $20 & I've never received the other one I ordered for the $34.

My 9100 A6 works fine & for $20 shipped I'm quite happy with it. 🙂

Not good news. The only reason I took a chance on refurbs this time (I typically don't risk it) is because of the Crucial reputation. Now that I see it's out of stock, it looks like I'm going to be stuck with a store credit for my troubles, and nothing I really want from them right now.

Time to talk to AMEX. Buyer's assurance sounds pretty good right now.

I have to agree. After buying that 9100 and getting the same response from them (store credit only) when it had massive artifacts at the Windows 2000 desktop I'll stick to buying new things from Crucial and stay away from the refurbs.

people please take note of this thread. some newb will surely post a deal from these vendors again someday, and i am sincerely shocked that such a highly rated manufacturer/retailer is behaving edit: in such a manner
this recession :|
