FYI the Corsair is a CX430, which is not as good as the 400W unit it replaced, but is still a really good PSU at $20.

The Antec is an EarthWatts 750W.

Original price $49.99 is actually $29.99 after rebate PLUS get $10 off with promo code EMCZYZN36 for a final price of $19.99

I see you're posting NewEgg 48hr deals, too... 😛

I checked my e-mail and thought I post some too here if nobody hasn't yet... GOod Deals... :awe:

How so? Seasonic made the 400CX I believe, who manufactures the CX430?

Probably CWT (Channel Well Technology). They made the CX500 and CX600, which BTW are based on CWT 450W and 500W units, meaning they are a bit overrated. :hmm:

CX400
3 year warranty (but some places say 5 year???)
30A +12v
rated at 40°C
80Plus certified

CX430
2 year warranty
28A +12v
rated at 30°C
not 80Plus certified ("up to 80% efficiency")

The lower +12v (with higher wattage?!?!) and lower rated temperature usually points towards a unit being overrated.

BTW, BFG was often slammed in enthusiast forums for doing something similar when they came out with the low priced GS/GX series of PSU yet Corsair is still getting the love. I bet a lot of other companies are envying their marketing clout right about now.

Note that I'm not saying "this is crap don't buy it." Compare it to other PSUs in its price range and you'll find... much worse. Basically Corsair is expanding their market presence. After all, there are few who are agonizing over whether to buy the CX430 or the AX1200 for the same build. Wouldn't it be better for someone to buy the CX430 over, let's say, the Diablotek that they were otherwise considering at the same price range?

Wow, that's pretty important info. Without looking into it at all (not in the market for a PSU), I was assuming they were rebadging the 400W version at 430W now since in the reviews it was able to hit ~460W while still maintaining 80% efficiency (if I recall correctly).

Thanks!

The antec looks decent for 60AR, anyone know who's mking this Antec? I'm hoping for seasonic but I think they ended their contracts with antec recently.

^Damn. Really?

This could be both good and bad. The good is that maybe there'll be Seasonic-built Antec units for stupid cheap while the present inventory is cleared out. The bad is that there won't be any more after that.

Yeah, I'm not happy to hear Corsair slowly taking the route of other companies like (IIRC) OCZ.

As long as they keep their "midrange" and high end units like the TX / HX / AX series true to their name, I'll be happy. But if this is any indication of things to come, I'll stop telling people that they can't go wrong with a Corsair PSU...

I believe the Earthwatts 750W is (and always was) Delta.

Why can't a company cater to more than one market segment? The volume is in lower end and crappier units. If you want Corsair's PSU division to be profitable enough to keep churning out PSUs like the AX series, you'd better make yourself start loving the fact that they're churning out mediocre stuff for volume.

Mediocre I don't mind. The 400CX was mediocre in my book, but a good buy for consumers none-the-less. Re-badging lower end units as something they weren't meant to be is something that I absolutely don't like, however. Now, on the other hand, if Corsair took a lower end PSU and beefed it up a bit to meet their intended rating, I wouldn't complain. I'm not sure if that's the case, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

There is no indication that they beefed up the units. That's probably why they are rated at 30°C (below your body temperature!!!) instead of 40°C.
