Looked around and didn't see any other posts about this, so here goes:

CompUSA branded 300W psu is on sale for $19.99. It supports P4, AMD and it's ATX ver 2.03 and ATX 12v ver 1.1 compliant. I have one of their 250W psus running an overclocked K7S5A (using sdram) with no problems whatsoever. I think it's a great deal for a nice PSU. :)

Any one know if this PSU is any good for AMD Athlon XP chips? Putting one AMD system right now and my old POS 250W from P2 just won't cut it. Nee a good one for fairly cheap and this looks like it.

i'm using a compusa 250w power supply to run an xp1600 with no problems...imho, compusa power supplies are decent. My computer specs include dvd, cdrw, zip, and floppy drives. GF2 GTS-V video card, Soundblaster Live!, Nic & controller cards, and 3 80mm case fans. Rock stable.

a deal similar to this ran like three months ago (?) and when it was posted, quite a few peeple had horror stories about either the 350w or the 300w cusa psu going bad within three months
csr told me when i had this but soundcard return that cusa really stands behind their branded products and one can raise some sand if they want to and get restitution, even if it's out of warranty, but that's hearsay...
fmi stands for fujitsu mechanical incorporated (i think )
bottom line? i would buy one if i needed one...
good luck

I'm using that 300W PS to power an XP 1600+, 1 HD, SCSI CD, DVD, and CDRW drive, and 3 fans with no issues.

I wouldn't get this for two reasons. Compusa can be a nightmare to deal with.. the customer service will not help you unless you fight them usually. Secondly, this is a generic power supply. With power supply being one of the most vital components to your computer stability, if the 5 volt or 12 volt becomes low or is low to begin with then your cpu and memory aren't going to have enough voltage and your computer will crash

A division of fujitsu(FMI) used to make them, I don't know if they still do or not. Past experience with them has been good, they are decent quality. I don't know much about thier current line so i can't compare them to anything.
