This was at the Mill Creek, WA store. They had 10 of them on the shelf. Noticed the model # said NEC 1100A. $59 out the door.

This burner is really good. You can pacth the firmware and make it NEC1300 Dual format burner. $60 is a very competitive price for a great 4X Dual format burner IMO. Find the firmware here http://www.herrie.org/

Which firmware is it, exactly? I don't see one for any Cendyne drives. I checked out the Hacked Firmwares for all the drives listed under 1100A, and they all say 'No Downloads available for this Category.'

Couldn't find that a herrie.org either. BUMP for the price, even though I just picked one up from Office Max for $49. I was marked as $179 but rang up for $49. There's another thread with that info. PM at staples?

Woo....

Look at the link at the very bottom of that page.

Only problem with that upgrade is that is not 100% reliable as far as burned media is concern..

Also these same ND-1100's were $49.00 last week at OM, and some where already ND-1300's out of the box. I myself got one last week from Van Nuys OM, box said ND-1100a and the actual drive was an ND-1300a so no need to flash :)

Here's some media tested with the 1100 --> 1300 hack linky

and some discussions with peeps that actually did the mod to 1300 and their experiances linky

Anybody have any suggestions on how I can persuade the Staples in my area (San Diego) to honor the $59 price? They have one available but it rings up at $99.

I picked up an NEC ND-1300A in a CenDyne 4x DVD+RW box last week for $49.00. You might be able to pull off a price match if Staples has the ND-1300A drive but OM only has the ND-1100 or some other drive.

Scored two $49 Cendynes at the Orange, CT OM today. Both say "NEC 1100A" under "Model Drive". Nice deal!
