Nice find!

Oh yea, GO GATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone have one of these cases??? How reliable do you think they are? Shipping was only $8 for me... I was considering a case from Newegg.. but it was 35+15 shipping :-(

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There's a discrepency. The description states it has a 300W PS while the specifications says it has a 250W PS. What's right? Hmmm.

Yeah, I noticed that too....

Either way, it looks like a steel... notthe best looking case, but I just need functionality, and reliabitly.

I hope someone has some input on these.. or at least another case for a comprable price.....

For a few bucks more, I ordered this one:
ATX-400W / XP/P4 Ready, 313Busb, $37.99

+ Thumb screw side panel access
+ Efficient cooling (80mm exhaust fan in rear included)
+ Removable motherboard tray
+ Linkworld 400W High Quality Power Supply
+ 2 Front USB ports Ready

$10.34 shipping to FL, so for $48.33 delivered seems like a good deal.

While I'm not expecting good 400w performance, anyone know if this at least compares well
with AMD approved 300w supplies.

That does seem like a pretty good deal too....

What is wrong with the other case though>? It looks ok, and as long as it is reliable I dont even car what it looks like, especially for a linux box.

Anyone?

Yes, I've used a couple of Linkworld 400w cases from AlliancePC/LinkPCA.com (same company) although not any of the ones mentioned in this thread. I had no trouble with AlliancePC and they're pretty decent cases for the price, but don't expect them to be as good as Enlight or Antec. The 400W power supply seems to have output more like a decent 325W PS. It's produces plenty to run a system with a K7S5A motherboard (which is finicky about power) and 4 drives. But I definitely would not trust the 300W units to do the same job even though a good 300 watter could. The 300W Linkworld PS is probably closer to 225-250w in real world output which might not be enough for an Athlon or P4 system. As always, YMMV.

The original case in this thread is crap. I have the AT version that I used for an emulator PC. It is junk.

Hey,

Thanks for the input. What problems did you have with the case? I am looking for a decent case for under $40 shipped.

Thanks again, and God bless

I honestly think you're $10-15 too optimistic Kliza23. You can get a decent case shipped for under $40 and you can get a decent power supply shipped for under $40, but finding a decent case with a good power supply shipped for under $40 is tough. Shipping on a case is pretty high, so to get into that price range you're paying something like $25 for the case/PSU and $15 for shipping and $25 just doesn't buy much. You might be able to find something in that range, but expect it to be junk or have a terrible power supply that won't run a P4/Athlon system properly. I heartily recommend that you stretch your budget at least another $10 bucks and find something in the range of $50-55 shipped. When considering the cost of a new system, and extra few bucks on a decent case with enough power is money well spent.
Here's a wll-regarded case from
Newegg for $57 shipped and one from LinkPCA that you can get shipped from LinkPCA for around $48.

As noted above, I went for the case with 400w PS.
Got it yesterday.
I would NEVER do this again.
The case is pure junk.
It makes the Computer Geeks cases seem like Top of the Line stuff.
First, it took a few minutes to remove power supply and bend the paper thin metal back into shape.
Case was damaged prior to boxing (as shipping box was perfect).
Also, power supply wires were stripped bare in some spots, probably due to case damage.
If this case had been shipped to someone that doesn't inspect parts well, I'm sure the unsuspecting
buyer could have easliy fried their motherboard, CPU, or memory with these bare shorted wires.
Zero build quality. Worse than zero actually.
They are charging about $18.50 for the case, and from the build, they must be making a lot of money.

The good news is the 400w supply does seem to work well.

I would suggest spend the extra $10 to $20 and get a good case, like Maxtop or Evercase from Newegg,
without power supply, and if you need to save a few bucks, get the 400w supply from alliancepc.

that 400w case doesn't seem to have a hole in the back for a fan, unless i missed it in the picture....i ran an athlon 1.2ghz with two case fans, two cd-drives and two hd's....on a 250w....no problem with stability at all i was suprised. I upgraded to a 350 just in case though, heh, and added another 120mm to the side, that sucks power like a mofo though 😀

Check local computer shops, they may have junk cases that they're throwing out for cheap you can get a steal on, dont' count on the PSU being worth much...just an idea. Good luck finding a good case, i'm also trying to find a cheapo one...

Thanks for the help guys 🙂 I will probably scope out compusa locally tomorrow, and if I cant find anything decent for cheap, I will order something from newegg or link..

Thanks again all, and God bless
Jesse
