My earthwatt died after a year of use. normal usage too. I sent it back to Antec since it's under the 3yr warranty. They said they'll send a refurb one back to me, been a month and still waiting.

Read review carefully, some ppl had it died sooner.

can't win 'em all.

i think the track record of the earthwatts line and seasonic units in general is enough to recommend them. $50 shipped for a solid design (that many manufacturers would rate a 500w) is a good deal.

If you look at Anandtech's PSU reviews, the Earthwatts 430W has the same Seasonic OEM design as the Corsair 400W, except that the Corsair uses a quieter 120mm fan vs. the Earthwatts' 80mm fan. The Corsair is actually more conservatively rated than the Earthwatts. And Newegg has had it for $30AR or less a few times this year (currently $50AR shipped).

hifi - You've had a different Antec RMA experience than what others and I have experienced. I RMAed a SmartPower PSU and they promptly sent back a new Earthwatts.

It's too bad the rebate company Antec used went bankrupt and now Antec is rebate-shy. I've purchased a bunch of Antec Earthwatts, Truepower Trio, and NeoHE PSUs, all for no more than $9.99AR. It doesn't seem like Antec will be jumping back into the rebate game anytime soon though.

I had an Earthwatts 380W die on me after a year, they sent me back a new whitebox 500W Earthwatts as a replacement the day after they received the dead part. FWIW I've installed an Earthwatts of one output or another in over 30 systems at this point & that's the only one that died on me (and of course it was my own primary machine, haha). I agree with jrichrds that the Corsair 400W is a slightly superior design due to the bigger fan (it's quieter) & that those are often cheaper AR, but if you need a PSU for a budget or mid-range build, $50 for a 430W Earthwatts is a solid choice.

I don't think they are made by Seasonic anymore.

You're right. Only the 380W is still made by Seasonic. The rest, including the 430W, have been made by Delta for a while now. They're supposed to be good quality units too. I wouldn't pay $50 for one though.

the newer 380s are delta also.

warm deal though if you need it.

I have a 380 in my HTPC and a 500 in my gaming rig. Also have a 430 as backup in case something goes out. The 430 has gone bad on me once, but the RMA process through Antec was simple and they shipped back quickly.
