my SLK1600 case shipped quite early...

i placed the order Tuesday night (06/03/03), which probably didnt get processed until Wednesday (06/04/03) morning...
i got an email saying that the scheduled delivery date was Monday, June 9th, which coincide's with the expected shipping time of antec cases on staples website of 3-5 days...

to my amazement, the case showed up yesterday (06/05/03)...1 day shipping for free...not bad...

on a side note: the pens came in as well :) :) :)...some nice Pilot G-2's...:) :) :)

on another side note: i had the worst package tracking EVER with this order. Staples emailed me an order number, which i went to track at staples site...the site first gav me an error that the number didnt exist, as it was wednesday morning...then wednesday afternoon and thursday morning when i entered my zip/order number it said i had the wrong zip code...staples didnt send me a UPS/FedEX (whichever company, i dont know...i wasnt the one at home to receive the package) number to use to track at UPS/FedEx website...worst tracking ever...

Thanks Tokar! I PMed the Sonata at Staples to Outpost.com's deal (Staples included Oupost's shipping charges into the PM) and I used a 10 off $50 that I found so it came out to be around $76 shipped!

Thanks again!

After further review, I noticed that Staples must've lowered the price of the Sonata last night so they PMed me to the lower price. I called back and they corrected it and gave me a credit, so all in all the unit cost me around $69 shipped!!!
(Boy, I never thought I would actually call someone to ask them to RAISE the price on an item I ordered  )

I have ordered a number or SLK2600 and SLK3700 via Staples. They always showed up the next day.

I think the 3700 is a much better deal, it includes a 120mm fan (no fans on the 2600), 350watt ps (vs 300), and a really cool drive case that slides out of the case towards you not towards the back and there are rubber mounts for the drives.

can you PLEASE tell me how you people do it???

i mean seriously...Staples PM policy explicity says you can only use a PM OR COUPON (when and if you decide to do such on a purchase), NOT BOTH. And i have been reminded time and time again about it when i try to do to do both...

everyone is like blah blah blah i did both...i cant get both to work...so how do you people do it? in B&M? online? phone order? persuasive talking???

edit: Luker, explain to me how you pulled that deal off...Outpost: $120 - $20 MMIR....Staples $130...and you somehow got it for $76 shipped??? how much was outpost.com's shipping may i ask?

Tokar, I first tried ordering on the internet, but the coupons weren't working so I defaulted to a phone order.

This is how it worked out.

Staples $129.98 PMed to Outpost's deal 83.94 (79.99 + 3.95 S+H) The rebate that Outpost has is not an MMIR it's Outpost's MIR so, with the 110% PM ($50.64) it came out to $79.34 I then said I wanted to use a coupon and gave her the code for $10 off $50 which brought the final price to $69.34

I actually had to call back to fix the PM mistake because they PMed to $111 instead of the 129.98 when I ordered it, but the paragraph above explains the gist of what I did. Hope this helps. Oh, and I've never had a problem PMing and coupons. I would suggest that you hang up and call back and maybe the next person will take your order. Maybe what you can do is order with the coupon first. Then call back with the PM later or the next day.

i see...

very good...

i see no point in returning my SLK1600 at this time to work that deal out :)...

edit: actually you REALLY lucked out with stupid staples people...
that shipping price on the product's mainpage says ground shipping STARTING AT $3.95...the rep at outpost wanted $5.31 shipping for that Storix Axis 128MB Flash USB drive, which weighs no more than half a pound, if that...it also had said on the Storix Axis' product page, ground shipping starting at $3.95...
you are lucky staples didnt do thorough investigation of actual shipping price...you would have paid out the WAZOO for shipping from antec at that rate i would have paid for the USB flash drive...

The ChenMing variants (Antec, Chieftec, Compucase and a dozen others) are also Very easy to build out.
5" drives are mounted on slides, HDs are in removable cages and many have fans located properly in front of the HD cage.
Add-on fans clip into plastic holders. Makes a system integrator's or home buider's life easy...
.bh.
There's the :sun: !

well actually...the SLK1600 i have doesnt have that feature...

it has that standard metal caging that is fixed in the case...

the only thing that is removable is the 3.5" bays...which are removed with the unscrewing of 1 screw which holds it onto the 5.25" bays...

I just got my SX1040BII from STaples.

It's the worst piece of crap I have ever had, it has completely frustrated me.

Punching the holes on the back for the motherboard to fit almost made me break the back panel.

I had to force my motherboard in their due to the so many metal crap sticking out.

It has a cheap flimsy case in the front which has problems open and closing.

The worst part is the 5.25 bay drives, oh my God, what the hell are those railings. People you can't screw the drives in, you have to put these railings in and then hope your drive squezes by without having the railing pop out.

It is absolutely horrible, it has scrateched my dvd burner and drives because I cant get to put my 5.25 bays in, anyone know a trick or something.

I hate this case.

Just in case this isn't a joke...

Clue #1: I usually open up the backpanel port "punch-outs" with a screwdriver or pliers. Worry the tab a bit and the metal will break off. The one thing I never do with punch-outs, is try to punch them out, especially with a heavy metal case.

Clue #2: put the railings on the drives, then slide the assembly into the case.

Clue #3: ask on the boards for tips or instructions. Don't get your knickers in a twist. It's easy, once you know how.

I think your problem is not the case but rather experience. Railings are superior to screwing for a number of reasons. Motherboard not fiting in? Well, I actually had an experience like that but it was the motherboard problem not the case. That is why some Abit motherboards have expanded holes for screws.
I don't think you'll ever find better made case that these for less than $100. Try start buying Powmax cases and eventually you'll run into a real nightmare.

I'm serious i tried punching out the holes with a screw driver, it required so much strength that the back railing flew off.

Secondly, the tabs are horrible.

Third, I still can't get the drive into the railing without having the railing pop out. I have the metal part outside when I slide it into the bay, the railing pops out and keeps on doing it, I have scratched the sides of my dvd burners doing this.

I would appreciate the tips.

Nice find that Staples is selling cases. Another place that sells cases with FREE shipping is amazon.com. I've got a poll running in the cases&cooling forum, and all the prices were taken from amazon.com Just a little FYI. There's been various hot deal threads on cases on amazon if u search for them.

I'm really interested in the antec cases for one main reason... the great PSU's they include. I could go buy a cheaper case but it would have a PSU I don't want. Or I could buy a nice case I want and pay $80 for the antec truepower 430. I'm considering the PLUS1080AMG with the truepower 430 PSU. The PSU alone is worth almost $90. If I buy that case with a CDRW I need for a friend, I can use my 30 off 150 coupon. It will be like getting a $90 PSU I wanted and a huge 10 bay nice case for $20. I wish it had a topside blow hole though and a MB tray. But its certainly a good deal IMO. I just hope the fans are half decent. I don't want to replace all thoe fans if they are noisy or suck. I have 2 thermaltake smart fan II's to slap in but I dont want to buy 3 more.

Now I really want a Thermaltake Xaser III case but the prices are really expensive with a Purepower 420 PSU or Antec PSU. I just dont think it's worth $230-$250 to me.

Thanks!

only problem is the site won'tload correctly for me. I'm on mac IE which SUCKS. The page is coming up like this huge black window with no visible content. I guess I'll check it with OS X Safari when I get home. That never gives me problems.

I think I am going to buy it anyways. I just gotta see what the complications will be of moving my Dell 865PE motherboard into it. I may have to get a special power adpater too.

LOL. Most Antec cases come with a manual nowadays, trying reading it. From the last 5-6 Antec cases I dealt with, I had nothing but good experience. I would suggest Antec to anyone looking for a quality case.
