This motherboard and CPU combo is back but $10 more than from June 27. Go figure! Just like last time, this is a bare CPU.

awww man I just bought a xp 2200+ / ecs mobo for $90 at fry 2 day ago.. I don't feel like driving 15 mile to my nearest frys.

I saw this, but I had more luck with a 1800+ DLT3C and this board, it easily overclocked to 2800+ speeds. I'm not too sure how this one goes, though. Anyone have a chip revision? Or is it just whatever they have?

You get what they got, and you do not see the chip until after you pay...

Why, oh, why can't we have one in the Northeast 🙁

come on, everything else has an east coast bias. damn award shows taped delayed, damn sports coverage... when we have rolling backouts and try to sue the texas power companies for screwing us, the east coast doesn't give a damn. but when you guys lose power for just one day, i'm supposed to care? at least we got fry's baby!! suck it!!

anyone knows whether this deal is still available?

Frys usually runs ads that are from Friday to Tuesday and Wednesday to Friday IIRC.

Running to Frys tomorrow, but it may be late 🙁

Hahahaha, a bit defensive, but funny nevertheless.

I am an East Coast guy who was "lucky" enough to be in LA last week and check out the Burbank Fry's. I do not salivate over Fry's deals anymore.

Fry's is great in the sense of all the merchandise they have: it's like Radio Shack, Best Buy, Office Depot and a Super Walmart all in one. However...

Got to the store at about 9:30 am las Saturday. Went to the "parts" counter (or whatever you might call it) and requested a 2000+/ECS combo. The CSR claimed that they only had refurb'd mobos. I could not believe it since I saw those mobos stacked in at least three locations. I confronted the CSR to no avail. I was ready to give up (as there would be no way for me to return the stuff if it did not work). Luckily, another CSR confronted the first one and pulled a brand new mobo for me.

After the episode with the lying CSR, I headed toward the cash registers to receive my CPU and pay for the purchase. I have not seen such a huge line wrapping around and around in a long time (not since the food shortages in the former USSR 20 years ago). There was no way I would waste 2 hours of my SoCal vacation to save $10 over newegg's prices for the similar merchandise. So, I am not so envious about not having a Fry's nearby. You waste more time there than the stuff is worth.

So, East coast folks, do not be upset of not being able to jump on those deals.

Maybe that way in So Cal but in the NW it is very painless, and I have never had a CSR lie to me either. Also with that being said, Fry's lay's out three ad's a week, sometimes with different MOBO combo's and they are very hard to beat and worth the drive to get.

You don't have to wait to in line at frys. If you know what you want, you can call ahead and tell them to pull the item(s). It will be waiting at a specified register when you get there. At least they've done this for me before. I don't know about stuff they have on sale that is in high demand.

I had the pleasure of visiting Frys this past week while vacationing in San Diego. I decided to pick up one of the ECS combos (2000+) for $69. When I picked up the CPU at the store it didn't look right. I was going to ask for a different one but thought that they were new. WELL THEY ARE NOT. Lo and behold, when I went to try out the CPU on my system it did not work. I tried it on the ECS board....nothing. My current CPU (1400+) worked fine in both.

I live in NY. I just got off the phone with them...I am SOL unless I have someone walk in and exchange it within 15 days. I do have relatives in SD, but combining the shipping costs to get it there in time and then getting somone to go to the store...I guess I should just take the loss. I am extremely disappointed with Fry's. By the look of the store, it is obvious that they re-sell a lot of returned product, which may or may not work. Fry's can eat a dang.

finally installing the k7s5a/1800+ boxed combo that i picked up labor day. weeee. fun
fear the power of the tnt2 in this system. 😛

Yeah - Fry's is an electronics superstore. Their deals are really good except that you have to deal w/ the bad equipment and returning. Although they are pretty good w/ the returns. I've never had to wait very long to get anything although I've had to return a bad cpu once. Good deal if you're local otherwise, you might want to stick w/ an internet company to fulfill your computer needs.

Hmmm, Really? "Easily???" This board is not that overclockable. Are you using the Wire in the cpu socket? Fastest I could get it to go "stable" 1800 was at a 2100 by updating the cmos.

I'd like to know how you pushed yours at 2800 speeds with an ECS mobo. I am thinking you'd have to buy a better board ... But maybe not.

Cry me a river.... Ok... You pick up a CPU .... It doesn't look right... Then you sign a paper that states you have 15 day to return the stuff... Hmmmmm.....

atlanta is opening one?! hm..that's 4hrs each way for me. 8hr round trip drive just for a Fry's deal? NAH! unless i'm saving $400, noway is it worth my time.

just need fry's to move north a little.

Heck, I think Fry's is great. Wish they had one here in MN/WI area.

Anyway, my folks live in Austin Texas and I asked them to pick up some hot deals for me. 3 ECS motherboards with 3 retail 1800+ processors and one ECS motherboard with a 2400+ bare CPU. Now my folks know nothing about computers but I asked my dad to make sure they don't sell them any refurbed stuff. Anyway, long story short, they shipped them all to me, and I received non refurbed parts. I tested the bare CPU and one motherboard the next day and it worked great. I'm not to worried about the retail versions since they have a 3 year warranty, nor am I to worried about an ECS motherboard.

My recommendation if you do not have a local fry's but are purchasing from them when on vacation or whatever is to grab the retail CPU deals. It might cost you a bit more but is worth the security.
