Pretty hot deal, considering the lowest pricegrabber price by a reputable vendor is $1680+shipping+tax last time I checked. AFAIK, Compgeeks charges tax only in California and shipping is reasonable (only $17 for second-day). The total, then, with the MC discount, should come around $1270.
BTW, Acer makes good notebooks. They OEM the Thinkpad iSeries.

This sounds great. Now if only I could justify spending more money :).

Bump for this one. If you EVER have a problem with your Acer, they have most of the major world cities/countries covered. I owned the 506T and their pickup+repair times both in the USA and UK when I had minor problems with it were astoundingly quick. They even replaced cracks I had done to the casing when I accidentally stepped on the laptop (shows how durable it is too. Middle of the night, one foot pressing down almost full weight on the thing and the screen still worked!)

Just one question, is the mastercard 10% off deal advertised anywhere? I'd like to read more on it, under $1300 is a steal for this notebook.

I have to bump this as well for Acer laptops... my 507 is hardy as a rock and if I needed a laptop, I'd really consider this one... great deal of quality for the money....

My brother works at the IBM Taiwan. He once told me that Acer produces labtops for IBM. IBM always gets the highest quality ones, whereas Acer keep the rest, or the leftovers from other big brand conmpanies.
My dad and my cousin both got the same acer travelmate. One of the two is now paralyzed, and another one constantly crashes.
