just got the case... and altho it makes it a bit bigger, it has a belt loop, and the front pouch opens nicely for two extra CF or CF + battery. As for the battery, i would highly suggest getting the newer one, or the high capacity one from batterybarn.. i've gone thru this first charge a lot quicker than i'd thought.

I have the Kingston 128MB Compact Flash card.. got this almost a year ago. I don't know how fast it is.. but what I do notice is that after i take about 150 pics or so, it takes longer and longer to write when taking pics. How can i tell how fast it is?

It says "High Speed" and I don't recall the xx.. I have an s100 BTW. is the one listed from viking 128MB considerably faster at writing? I don't have problems waiting for it to transfer to the HD from my PCMCIA card.. thanks in advance

i bought a couple of 128mb Kingston CF cards from Dell as well --- the thing is, i'm not sure if they're "hi speed" or not. does anyone know if ALL Kingston CF cards are supposed to be "hi speed"? (even if it doesn't specifically say "hi speed" anywhere on the labels??).

anyway, i actually heard that the more pics you store on any CF card, the longer it takes to write onto the card --- takes more algorithms (hence: time) to find the free space to write to.

I dont think these are very 'high speed' .. when i checked out buy.com and saw the 128 MB kingston, there is no speed rating listed.. does that mean its the 1x first generation ones?? Anyone know??

If so, I am going to buy the ones recommended here..

If you had to choose between 256MB Lexar and 256MB Kingston CF media which would you choose and why?

Well, I dunno. The Viking module that I purchased from buy.com did not have a speed rating on it either. But it ended up being quite fast. So I'm not sure if that makes any distinction. If the brand actually has stuff labled as "high speed" or "12x" or whatever... I would say that the ones that don't have that label would probably be slower. In the case of Lexar vs. Kingston - if there are no "high speed" markings on them - I'd say its a wash. I'd lean more towards the lexar, but in our camera's it won't make much of a difference.

The way I tested them was to put them in a PCMCIA card reader and then use Sandra to benchmark the drive. You can also use a USB reader - but they aren't quite as fast as PCMCIA. Using it in the digital cam you probably won't see much of a difference anyway.... <shrug> Best way to tell is to buy both and benchmark - then return the slower one! :)

I'm more than happy with the viking that I purchased!

I'm concerned about quality, reliability, compatibility and speed.

Speed is important but isn't everything to me.

my case from canon only says powershot (the one for the s300/330).

as for the ram, i don't think you can go wrong w/ either lexar or kingston.. which one comes out cheaper ;)

As for anyone buying the digipower battery at circuit city/best buy/compusa, here rates it at 680mAH. The one sold at batterybarn is 1000mAH.. but $46 vs $30 for the digipower. They both come out to about an equal price, so it's just a matter of how much you need.

As for the case for S330: I checked PowerShoot.com and Canon has PSC-300 case for S300 and S330, because
they are of the same size. You can also get a waterproof one, but I think it is too expensive and an overdo.

Buy.com has PSC-300 for $7.96 + $5.02(S&H) = $13 (You may get free shipping for order $99+)
Amazon has PSC-300 for 11.99, (You may get free shipping for order $99+)

I will also buy Yamaha TSS-1 for 125.88 at amazon.com so I can use free shipping, together with $10 off coupon.

Just my 2 cents.

Edit: Oh, NO! TSS-1 goes up to $149.88 for now. But buy.com still has it for $173.95. I will use amazon anyway.

You can also pick a Canon Soft Compact Case for S100 from Staples for $8.99. If you order over $50 you'll get free shipping and $15 off $50. Since the S330 is bigger than S110 will this bag fit S330? Link
Staples.

can the PSC-300 fit the S200 without leaving any room for it to move around in the pouch?? I'm looking forward to buying it. :)

Another thing, I find that the Kingston CF is cheaper than the Viking. Is there any difference between the HiSP model and the one that they're selling in buy.com?? I'm ready to buy. :D Just need assurance.
