Sorry, no comments on why I'm spending so much on a video card....

I've been looking to pick this up for a while and it's been $525 for the last few weeks. The BF2 and no tax were the big things for me. The Dell option would have been about $4 more for the BFG...I just can't wait anymore.

Not the best deal I've ever seen, but it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Linked late

where did you dream that up ? maybe the KO version is $490 wholesale, but the regular version is less.

Anyway, for $15 more you can get the XFX OC 490/1300, although that is not bundeld with BF2 which I gues is worth at least $30 if you dont already have it. Reality check is that very few cards can reach 490/1300 so buying one with a factory overclock that at that level is valuable.

Now the XFX 7800GTX OC is also $499 at monarch plus $7 shipping. I still think it's a FAR BETTER DEAL then the non-OC version with BF2. In the end the OC performance increase (10-15%) is something you enjoy in all your future gaming, not just in one game, which anyway you could get for cheap on ebay.

CronJob, wake up, your non OC card is not a good deal, and it's not even in stock. It's a "special order" item which means they don't have it and rely on evga to have it, which they don't, because EVGA is always on backorder. So even that yuo cant wait, they WILL MAKE YOU WAIT for a few weeks until they ship it.

Moreover, because EVGA sorts the GPUs according to how well they overclock, you can bet that the non-OC version will not overclock much, if at all. So if you get the non OC one, you'll be missing out on a %15 performance increase which the XFX OC gives you (like the EVGA KO).

Not sure how quick I would be to jump on a XFX deal, after all, XFX cards blew when it came to reliability with the GeForce 6 series cards. I would personally wait for a good deal on a EVGA or BFG oc model, especially since EVGA warranties against any non-phyiscal damage to the card, and that includes extreme overclock :)

I just ordered the XFX 7800GTX OC (490/1300) from Monarch. It has DOUBLE LIFETIME WARRANTY and IS ALREADY FACTORY OVERCLOCKED TO THE EXTREME.

Final price = 499 + 7.70 shipping = $506.70

I know you can get a 7800GT for $389 but I thought that the 15%-25% performance advantage is worth it for a $115 extra.

Cant wait for UT2007 !!!!!!!!!

Once again, here's the link people, order now - operators are waiting

ZZF has the XFX 7800 GT OC for $369 with the coupon code from their email. Not the GTX but good for those of us who are poor.

Read the fine print, double warranty is good and all, but if it is damaged by overclocking it is NOT covered under their lifetime warrantly, unlike eVGA which covers ALL non-physical damage you do to the card for life. Combine that with the issues the 6 series XFX cards and you have a brand I would stay away from. Read Anands review of the lates eVGA to see his impressions on the brand.

Read the fine print in this thread - the card is ALREADY FACTORY PRE OVEROCLOCKED TO THE MAX !!!!! There is no need to overclock further, unless you care about an additional 0.5% increase.

And btw, most computer products are NOT COVERED for damage caused by user overclocking. That is basic common sense, so I'm not sure exactly haw and if EVGA covers damage caused by someone overclocking too much (which is easy to do if you don't know what you're doing).

I do not plan to overclock my new XFX card more than its factory overclock of 490/1300 !!! woohoo BF2/UT2007 here I come
