3 year warranty as well. I just ordered one. I use smaller drives like this for the main OS installation and core applications, and then a larger drive for games, mp3s, etc... Thanks for posting.

I thought all hard drives from Maxtor had 1 year warranty.. I guess I was wrong..
so should I get 80GB for $60 from pricewatch or just get 30GB for $38?

It should only have a three year warranty. It also says farther down on the page the warranty is 1 year.

Puribong, depends on what you want to store and how much stuff you're cramming in. If you have tons of vids, you'll want storage. If you have lots of new games taht you want to run off the hard drive, the extra storage is good too. Songs, documents, etc don't take that much space.

BTW, $60 routinely buys you a 120GB Maxtor (ie see OfficeDepot.com and use a $20 coupon then do in-store pickup).

OD have 120GB 7200RPM for $149.84 and there is $30 rebate. so if I use $20 coupon, the final price will be 149.84-$20-$30 rebate=$99.84. are you talking about something else?? I am new to this board so.... I might be missing something...

bestbuy has WD 80GB SE for $60 after 2 mail in rebates.

also OM has 120GB WD for $70 after $20 instant rebate- $20 OM rebate and 30 mfg rebate.

so which do you think is a better deal?

Puribong, if you select in-store pickup, the 120 7200 by Maxtor should be $130, and after $20 instant savings, $30 rebate and $20 coupon, it should come out to $60. Basically the flyer price minus a $20 coupon. Key here is to select in-store pickup to get the additional $20 instant savings.

If you only need 30Gb, then it's not a good deal to get a 120Gb for only twice as much. It's like buying a supersize soda, when all you are thirsty for is a small size. Everyone's needs are different. I've only got about 15Gb of files on my comp, but I use a 80Gb drive for growth. It's not worth it to buy a 160Gb drive for me. Anyway...

BestBuy just got done their rebate for $50 off the Seagate 80Gb 7200.7 Plus (109-50=$59) or $70 off the 120Gb for 149-70=$79. Their rebate now is for the Western Digital Caviar drives, which do have a 3 yr warrantee (unlike any Maxtor drive, which all have a 1 yr that I've seen). I just e-mailed BB about their 160Gb info being wrong see linky. And here's the WD 80Gb hd. Maybe I'll get around to trying to get BB to pricematch the Sam's Club $130 price on the 160Gb drive, and pick it up for $50AR...see this tread...

At officedepot, 120GB Maxtor is now $110 and there is $30 rebate.
so I tried buy it at $110- $20 off coupon - $30 rebate =final price of $60 but I encountered the problem.
During the check out process, I type in coupon number but they wouldn't let me check out and keep on saying my order requires over $75 but in the subtotal, it was already $110 so I don't know what's wrong.
maybe these coupons don't work with hard drives with rebate??
