This is my first hot deal topic, and I'm not as current on component and accessory prices as I was a year or so ago, but this seems fairly good.

Let me know if I'm being a complete dipshxt. Nothing special or tricky going on with the deal here, so seems kinda too easy to actually be hot.

Maybe some guru here has some rebates or PMs or something that could make this better? Do share if so.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Even if they are refurbished. Unfortunatly overstock is in my state(UT) and will charge sales tax.

Anyone know how overstock treats and handles refurbs? It seems like a decent deal for a 21" trinitron. MOre importantly, does anyone own or bought this unit from overstock?

I am using a reconditioned 21" Dell Ultrascan Trinitron right now. It is flat and beautiful.

The best monitor I've ever owned!!

This means they're actually selling this monitor to you for about $175...it'll run them about $50 at least to ship that pig.

I've got two of these. They're great, especially for $220 shipped, refurbished. The last one I picked up I believe I paid $215 for USED (not refurb)

Sorry for even more questions, but:

Aperture grill pitch: 0.25 mm (center), 0.27 mm (corner)

isn't .25 and .27 a bit low? I was also told it used quite a lot of power, but my higher concern is image quality and the preowned quality of this monitor. I'm highly tempted though.

hmmm, I was considering the refurbed Hitachi 21" in the other thread too. Think this deal is still worth it for the price?

i think the hitachi is a better monitor.. and it costs less....

but this is great too if you want an aperture grill

I ordered one of these and it is a Trinitron Fd. Also has two (2) VGA connections with a front switch which is really handy. Wonderful monitor. Came to Houston in 4 days.

Older trinitron. Flat vertical, curved horizontal (meaning it's not trinitron fd)

Not sure where you're getting this info, but I can assure you both of mine are FLAT.

In general, the smaller the dot pitch, the better. These dot pitches are inline with a high quality monitor. All CRT monitors above 17" use a lot of power. Yes, 160 watts is a lot of power. This is at least twice as much as a 19" LCD monitor. The viewable size of this monitor is 19.8".

Wow, it's flat and has a dual-system switch built in to it? That makes this deal a lot hotter, in my opinion...

Time to check the finances, and see if i can squeeze this one.

-D.

This is a great price for such a large monitor. Most people only dream of buying this size monitor. Does anyone have a clue as to exactly how many hours these monitors have been used? They are supposed to be "customer returns after a short amount of use."

If these are truly Dell refurbs, as in Overstock got them directly from Dell and they are Dell certified refurbs, then most likely these have very low mileage (or no mileage at all) on them.

Most refurb monitors are crap that has come off lease and has years on the tube. A bad idea and a bad deal. But Dell refurbs, if these are truly from the Dell warehouse, are a different matter.
