I know everyone hates Tiger but this seems to be a good price for a 18" LCD, even if it is generic.

EDIT: If you don't like TD, or don't want to deal with the rebate, there is a 18" LCD at WalMart for $399 ($10 more), pointed out by someone below, and linked in a later post. No rebate and no shipping, but tax to most places. Considering TD's history of rebate fulfillment (using the word fulfillment "loosely"), the WalMart deal is probably better.

Nothing special performance wise. Just cheap. Analog VGA connector only. $40 rebate.

Agreed. Since it will still probably be $400+ after shipping. And as you said, it is TigerDirect. :frown:

not a bad deal, anyone ever used this monitor, does not look like one for a gamer. They will get you for shipping but at least no tax to most people.

I assume you mean this one for $399:

Walmart 18" LCD

Specs:
400:1 contrast ratio
0.279 mm dot pitch
Super-wide, 160-degree viewing angle
Displays over 16.7 million colors (24-bit color)
Anti-glare, flat-panel design eliminates eye strain and delivers clear images with minimal distortion
User-friendly on-screen display controls for automatic optimization and adjustments at the touch of a button
Space-saving narrow footprint and profile is about 80 percent smaller than normal CRT-type display for a less cluttered desktop
Tilts up 35 degrees or down 5 degrees for the perfect viewing angle

I'm guessing but most likely analog VGA connector only. I'm also guessing a 25ms response as these panels are probably clones of each other. Hmm. Microtek and Scanport are both scanner companies aren't they? Probably a better deal than the one I posted honestly, as it doesn't involve a rebate or TigerDirect and is only $10 more. No shipping but tax to most places.

The Walmart Microtek is an excellent monitor. I have several of them, and they are really quite nice. (note: I am not a gamer, so I can't comment on gaming with them. ) I'd highly recommend it, and for the price of a 17" it's a deal. Too bad there is $35 of tax in CA.

I see it's $10 shipping at Walmart - is there a special free shipping offer that others were getting?

I have two of the Microteks, and can tell you conclusively that they are not for hard-core twitch gamers, but they do fine for just about everything else. BUT, many have reported a probem with a strange ghostly clouding effect at the edges of the monitor when you first turn it on - I have that problem with one - the solution is to never turn it off, just let it go into sleep mode, when it comes out of sleep, it doesn't have the ghosting. There were threads about this a long time ago (maybe a year). Still, it's about the best deal that doesn't involve rebated for a large LCD.
