Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a new game, I really enjoyed WoW for a long time, but I've been hearing a lot about WAR and the PVP factor. I've been hearing mixed reviews though (mostly on this forum).

The reason I left WoW was because there was a huge time commitment in the end game if you wanted to see ANY content of the game. You had to go into raids with 24+ people or in the old school days 39+ people. I was just wondering if I'm not going to be able to see any of the game content if I don't put in 4-5 hours a night once I reach that point, or if it's strictly PvP based...

can anyone give me a little insight?

I'm just curious as to whether or not it's worth my money.

Opinions? Flame wars? whatever gets me the best answer... fire away!

The endgame right now consists solely of capturing and/or defending keeps. As far as I know, there's no limit to the number of people that can be involved in any given battle, so you can freely jump in to and out of groups.

It's nothing like WoW raiding.

The end game right now is simple keep taking/defending and battlefield objectives.

It will be at least a few months before some servers start to hit maturity to have enough high levels to start actually having a real chance of taking over the other sides city.

The end game for this really is PvP/RvR. There are some high level dungeons but they take a backseat to the RvR. On my server if any of the high lvl guilds are doing a dungeon and find out Order is taking keeps and such they will bail out of there real quick to go kill them and defend/take back whatever.

The last tier, tier 4 is still under populated as the majority of players are still in t3

WAR is a PVP game from the ground up with just enough PVE to level you to the max level but not more.

think of WAR as the game to have for RVR/PVP and WoW as your raiding PVE fix.

WAR does the PVP so much better right now.
you can tell the game was designed with RVR as the primary focus and PVE coming in a distant 2nd

No, there's endgame PVE content.

Endgame PVE in this game is garbage.

Warpblade is so hard I doubt many PUGs or casual players will ever make it past the trash in there, same with Sigmar's and I'd assume Lost Vale (it was locked for hotfixes up until my sub ran out)

Bastion Stair is possible with a PUG, but it is nothing like any WoW PVE or any other game. The PVE is just linear hallways with a boss at the end, in an instance.

I'd say without a doubt:
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF PVE IS YOUR PRIMARY FOCUS.
There are many flaws with their dungeon design, I hope most will be fixed, but as it isn't the primary focus of this game, I'd definitely not buy it if you wanna PVE, not yet anyways.

RVR in the game has the potential, and will probably be all spruced up by the time people who roll characters now will reach 40, unless you're a really hardcore power gamer. If you are going to be 40 asap though, I'd wait a bit before you buy the game as T4 RVR/Scens are basically ruined by rifting/magnet teams, and can really cause more frustration/loss of enjoyment than you get from the game.

I was having a blast though in RVR taking/defending keeps up until T4 so once its fixed up, I think you should have fun.

As far as grouping, I am in a #1 guild on the server and we let anyone join our war bands to take keeps, so you wouldn't have to worry about that at all.

We play order so we're outnumbered 2-3 to 1 by Destruction so any extra cannon fodder we can get into our raids for RVR is welcome.

So I guess my next question is then, what is the amount of time that you have to dedicate to the game to see the majority of game content?

Like I said... with WoW, I was playing 4-5 hours a night raiding and when I wasn't doing that, I was farming gold for repair bills, pots, flasks, etc...

So what do you do to advance once you are level 40? do you get new armor or anything? how do you better your character once you hit max level?

Oh there is... but the PVP gear after the upgrade makes doing those complete and total waste of time for risk vs reward.
they are garbage.
Might as well be none.

There is something else called Renown Rank that is it own leveling system. You get renown points for killing other players, participating and winning scenarios, and doing battlefield objectives and keeps.

Renown Rank (RR) goes up to I believe 80.

Each RR lvl you get a renown point to spent at a trainer to increase various stats or get new tactics. You also unlock new armor sets and pieces of armor during various RR's.

Gold in WAR has little value. It is mostly used for later on when guilds claim keeps, there is a 6 gold an hour cost to hold the keep. Only other things you really would spend money on is seige equipment, maybe pots, and dye's to change your armor colors.

As long as you aren't blowing tons of money in the AH you'll have plenty of money. You get 1 mount, at rank 20 and it cost an easy to get 15g (if you didn't waste your cash you should have double that by then).

The game really focuses on you fighting other people and not worrying about other crap like needing enough money. You get money/exp/renown from killing other players so it makes it all for the better
