Warhammer Questions from a n00b! {Updated}

Ok I decided to go with the original Warhammer set (Fantasy)

#1. Can both My freind and I play with a Choas Army against each other? (Thats the one be both like)
#2. Hows this Place's prices compared to Game-Workshop's retail stores. - Looks cheaper to me.
#3. Is this a good starter Army (1 Champ. of Chaos, 24 Chaos Warriors, 5 Chaos Knights, 12 Chaos Maraurders. Plus a few other small people)
#4. What all do I need other than Dice, Markers, and A Ruler to play?
#5. Do the blister backs &/or boxes come with the bases to put the characters on?
#6. Can my Chaos Army include Chaos Warriors & Chaos Demons & Chaos Beastmen? Also Can I have some elfs mixed in with my Chaos stuff, or is that not allowed?
#7. Does Fantasy use the same templates as 40K or does fantasy just use the ruler to measure the attack distances?

A friend of mine from HS opened up a gaming shop just recently. Their website doesn't look quite ready, but they will have online shopping.

And yes, Warhammer 40k cannot be played with Warhammer (fantasy). They are completely different.

I prefer 40k, but I like futuristic crap.

Well I like futuristic stuff too, But we need to both agree on something so ill probally just go for the fantasy..


Can you use the fantasy with the original warhammer? I didnt see anything on games-workshops website to show that fantasy was even a set....

Warhammer original is fantasy. There is no subset to it. I just posted that so you knew it was different than 40k.

Wow, there's a store here in hawaii with that same name, and sells pretty much the same type of stuff Other Relms Hawaii BTW I also prefer Warhammer 40k to regular warhammer.
 
I played tyrannids in 40k. I still have the army, but I suppose I will sell it this summer.

BTW, dont EVER play lizardmen in Warhammer...they suck ass.
 
I played a little bit of 40k almost 10 years ago now. So I don't remember much and can't help you. Sorry.

1. Yes you can both play choas. There are several different groups of followers of Chaos, Slaanesh,
2. look ok
3. it's ok, my only prob with fantasy is that you have rank and file units.
4.you need the rule book, or somethiung that has damages of weapons vs.strength, and weapon skills charts.
5.Yes.
6.Yes, yes, and as long as they are dark elves.
7. not quite sure with the newer rules, i played this almost 10 years ago.

Thanks for your help, You said there were several different followers does this mean we each have to get a different follower of the chaos clan or can we both play with exactly the same people if we choose. Y cant I use Light Elves or whatever, lizard men or something? Im not sure I understand that restriciton.

My best advice is get the basic rulebook and read it. It describes a bunch of things that you need to know. Such as what units do what, who can mix with who, etc...

As to the Light Elves and Chaos, think about it. You have the "good" Light Elves (think Rivendell from LOTR). And you have the "bad" Chaos (think Ork-hai (sp?)). Would they really fight alongside each other?

That place is pretty cool. I usually order my stuff from them when I don't want to spend the money in the stores.
 
You can all play the exact same thing with chaos. for other races, its a little iffy, but with chaos, you can easily write off all battles as warring factions vying for the sttention of their god.
I play just 40k, and never fantasy. i tried fantasy, but 40k was so much more cooler. GUNS GUNS GUNS!
