I was probably counted in that 800k. In the end, I couldn't get into it so I let my sub die after the first month.

seems like most people don't even know there is a population.

My server is buzzing, which one are you on?

But your reply doesnt really answer my question either.

none. the game was a total let down.

In other words you really dont know.

I for one canceled after my free month. Had hope but meh. At least they got my box sale, right?

Same goes for me. I had hopes for this one, but it was just bad. Maybe after another year it might be better, but really, WoW is infinitely better than WAR at this moment.

even if the game does get better, will people want to play it or come back to it say a year from now? it's already left a bad taste in people's mouths and by then, there will most likely be other MMOS out.

The numbers I have seen.

2.5 million in NA
1.5 million in Europe

7 million in Asia

Thats the thing, there is no way those numbers are correct.
Even with 80 servers that would mean 10K players per server.
Many of use did player searches and polls among guilds and determined as of about two weeks ago most servers were about 1K players during prime time, with some in the 1.5K range. There is no way there is 800K subscribers.

Still if you believe their numbers thats 1.2million box sales and 800K subscribers, so 400K players quit ? That doesn't look good either.

You think those 10k players are all going to be playing 24/7? I'd say the average daily play time is 2-4 hours tops (probably closer to 2, maybe even less), which would mean only about 1/10th to 1/12th of the total player base will be logged in at any given time, which would put the server load right around 1-1.5k players logged in.

Are you including the numbers from across the pond? The server I am on showed about 17,000 players pretty evenly split between empire and chaos.

If EA is fabricating these numbers it breaks financial law for lieing about your sales for a public company. Think Enron. If they have a legitimate 800K subs at the time of the filing they have to be close. If they have 400K when they claim 800K, the executives better get ready for federal pound me in the ass prison.

As to WoW who cares what their figures are,how many have left the game?..you can bet its higher then their sub rate.

They raised the caps. What you see today as a medium server was a high server before the cap raise.

This game (and AoC) have/had great potential, but both screwed up the basic things like chat, animations, sluggish game play, etc. If it was just an issue of balancing of the classes, people would be more incline to wait and see. Screwing up the basic stuff on top of the balance issues just doesn't give many people hope for the game, and makes it hard to really get into the game. Then you see what appears to be a complete lack of testing in tiers 3 and 4 and the huge problems encountered with ORvR (main selling point of the game) and it gets very hard to stick with the game.

I honestly still think AoC has some very good potential, but the developers can't seem to get their act together and make changes without breaking things that previously were working just fine.

We will see how well Mythic can patch things and how quickly. If the first few patches are actually good patches that fix a lot of the problems and don't introduce a bunch of new problems the game might actually see some life. If not it will probably end up like AoC with a very small player base that stops growing or slowly declines.

That's one thing I can never not compare to WoW. WoW is just all around polished. Smooth animations, crisp easy to read everything, etc.

That's where they first screwed themselves, that retarded ass launch method they held to.

I probably won't, that's for sure.

QFT. Blizzard did a great job on the overall fit and finish of the game. Like any MMO, there is going to be a ton of bugs/problems/etc... compared to a single player offline game. However, you can't mess up the details. Functionality and polish are just as important as class balance (which is a never ending struggle).

Yes we included all servers.
They are being creative with the numbers. They probably do have 800K subscribers using EA math.

We used guilds for most of the information.
When you have guilds with 400 members that drops to 100 members having played in the last 14 days you know that the game is not doing well.

What is EA's math?

QFT. I've heard EQ2 is great now but have no desire to ever try it again. First impressions mean a lot.
