I just can't see how this can be true.
I have played the game and there is no way there are 800K people playing the game.
EA is even saying that subscription went up by 50K when just about everyone playing knows it went down.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, an MMO from EA?s Mythic Entertainment
studio, sold 1.2 million copies in the quarter ? with over 800 thousand current players

I don't see it either. It's increasingly difficult to find a party to do PQ's, besides the random guy running thru trying to build points.
Even raids are slowing down.

I would imagine a lot of them are like me:

People still in their free month that do not play anymore.

seems like most people don't even know there is a population.

My server is buzzing, which one are you on?

But your reply doesnt really answer my question either.

How many servers are there, and is the area significantly larger than WoW? That could account for some of the numbers. More servers + more areas for people to be in = lower population density.

I don't know the numbers

WoW has 11 million subscribers, where are they? Really, somehow those numbers get inflated if you ask me ... Bet the same thing can be said for WAR...

WoW numbers include a lot of non-NA whom pay much less than NA subscribers do.

I just cancelled my account because I couldn't find anyone to group with, when I first bought the game there where plenty of people online and it seemed fun but lately there may be 1 other person doing PQs etc... I definately think EA's subscriber numbers must be wrong..

Different economies means different prices.

Some pay even more with the hourly charge.

WAR is consolidating servers to better reflect the smaller population. They had too many servers for too few people so the population was spread out. Now with transfers available from low pops to medium pops, things are much better. Mu queues for T3 are only like 3 min long (if i choose everything) and there is more activity. I imagine that some of the disgruntled people were on the low pop servers. I like the new server (Pragg)and the game is still pretty good (but still needs getting used to after 2 years of WoW).

A good game so im giving it another month to see what happens (Myth is pretty fast to fix things and address issues).

Most people are staying in tier 1/2 on my server. I'm guessing it's due to it seeming more balanced earlier on.

Thats the thing, there is no way those numbers are correct.
Even with 80 servers that would mean 10K players per server.
Many of use did player searches and polls among guilds and determined as of about two weeks ago most servers were about 1K players during prime time, with some in the 1.5K range. There is no way there is 800K subscribers.

Still if you believe their numbers thats 1.2million box sales and 800K subscribers, so 400K players quit ? That doesn't look good either.

Same goes for me. I had hopes for this one, but it was just bad. Maybe after another year it might be better, but really, WoW is infinitely better than WAR at this moment.

Population has gone down on all European servers, remember the queues that had 30- 60 mnis wait, well nowadays you always get in first time and population at PQs,Open RvR is very low from my experience.

As to WoW who cares what their figures are,how many have left the game?..you can bet its higher then their sub rate.

When an MMO gets to WoW's age, people are going to leave regardless of quality. It's called burn out, the type of person that will play the same MMO for longer than 3 years is not your average individual that would make up 11 million subscriptions. Personally, I quit WoW back in 2005, but I don't think that says anything negative about the game.

That's my point, some will try the game because of the hype etc....I left in 2006,as to good or bad thats up to the individual to make that decision,I found it negative in many areas that I won't go into but then thats why I left, same for WAR too since that had so much promise but let me down in too many areas.

I have played many MMORPGs over the years and 98% of them have been disappointing.

I think what we need now is some decent sci-fi ones, lets hope Stargate and the next Star Wars MMORPG are good contenders in that area.
