So it's finally here, I got it on 1st day, and I am thinking.... WTF?!

1)The graphics are not really any better than DOWII, in fact, I think they are worse in some ways, yet requirements are absolutely ridiculous! I couldn't really get a very high frame-rate with a GTX 1070 @ 1440p.
Sure, it was more than acceptable, but really, for such a card should be much higher.

And with lower grade video cards? Forget it... Not gonna happen. I am able to play it on a AMD HD 6970, but I have to tune everything waaayy down @1080p and that's casual campaign play. Not multiplayer,

Ok, I admin a 6970 is an ancient card, but hey, it ran DOW II just fin and DOW III is not really an improvement over DOW II

2) What happened to "cover" and "retreat to base"? How could they take these features away?

3)Seems like unit variety is lacking a bit.. or is it just me?

What are your opinions? How do you feel about this game?

I only played the beta/demo weekend multiplayer but I wasn't impressed. Cover is now just the "bubbles" you can have troops stand in.The love/hate for this game has gotten pretty bad out there, just check the subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/dawnofwar/ or steam reviews.

$60 for a game with one MP mode and 8 maps, with a lukewarm single player story is very meh. Player numbers have fallen hard in the 1.5 months its been out. For me I might pick it up on mega sale or if they put out DLC that adds more content. Its worth maybe $20 if you're a big RTS fan or WH40k fan.

As much as I love the 40K universe, I can't justify spending money on this game. I played it at my buddy's house and I felt like I had been ripped off even though I didn't even buy the game. They keep dialing everything back to make it more user-friendly to the casual crowd and all they are doing is pissing off their fanbase.

I'll stick to my Dark Crusade and heavily modded Soulstorm.

This constant dumbing down of RTS games must stop!
It's not going to stop because they only want to make money and the RTS genre is a dying one. I assume they are trying to bring new players into the mix by making it as newbie-friendly as possible, but as I said before, all they are doing is alienating the fans.

I love 40K and the DoW series so much that I threw over $2k rebuilding my main PC so it would be able to handle the game with every option turned on.. I really really really regret doing that. The game isn't worth the $50 I paid for it, let alone rebuilding my machine to play it. I was under the impression that this would be on a much larger scale with the inclusion of Titans in it. As it is, there are no Titans, no crazy features, and most importantly nothing new. It's a rehash of the same old, with a somehow worse game play and story line.

:(

Titans were never expected in the game though... and even adding in Knights took the game in the wrong direction imo. Moving towards DoW2 with more appropriate model counts would have been preferable.

Steam just gave me a 50% off coupon for this game. Did everyone get one? It's been in my wishlist ever since Steam added it to their store but I never bought it because of the horrible reviews.

Got that same coupon. Also on my wishlist since the first trailer. Own the first games too.

Even with a 50% discount, I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this piece of crap. Took everything that was good about DoW2 and threw it from a cliff before adding things no one wanted and made it ugly to boot.

Man, the forums on Steam are just sad. Many people offering trades for their coupon. Seems like they sent a coupon to almost everyone who had the game in their wishlist or played the beta. I don't know why they didn't just have a weekend sale for $30 or free weekend/sale deal.

Well, despite the mediocrity of DOW III, I would still say the campaign is worth your time. The gfx are still pretty good, and the story is... If nothing else, "OK". At least one play-through is probably worth it.
