I think a lot of ppl who pronounce it

WEAR-ez meant to pronounce it WARES... I voted for the wrong one by accident too because I thought WEAR-ez was it, but then I found Wares later =(

I've always done Wear-ez, even though I know the correct version is Wares. As stated above it is a derivitive of Soft*ware(s)*.

I'm going to start saying juar-ez, just so I can pretend I'm in the bob dylan song:

when you're lost in the rain in juarez and it's easter time tooooo
when your gravity fails and negativity won't pull you throooooough..
Don't put on any airs when you're down on rue morgue avenuuuuuue
they got some hungry women there and they really make a mess outta yoooooouuu

Weirz?
so like weird but with a z? never heard that pronunciation but i think i like it best.

What are you talking about? That's their pronunciated guide for pronouncing it like wears.

I said "JUAR-ex" in the past because I found it humorous. Unfortunately, just about everyone around me didn't realize it was meant to be humorous.

look up wear and compare the "pronunciation guides" wears is with a short a sound. if it was a short a they would write it with a short a like in wear. or maybe people pronounce wear oddly.

There is no 'wear' entry in either the Jargon File or FOLDOC. It's not about people pronouncing anything oddly, you're just not reading it correctly. dictionary.com uses several different dictionaries, each with their own pronunciation guide. FOLDOC's happens to use eir as the sound for ware.

From FOLDOC's own pronunciation guide:
eir - their, software

You should be able to figure it out from common sense. The same sites/groups that deal with warez also list gamez, appz, moviez and the like. It doesn't take a genius to understand that the Z is just a childish affectation of the letter S. gamez= games, appz = apps, moviez = movies and <drumroll> warez = wares = softWAREs. Even an ATOTer should be able to handle that.
