LLVP - riding lawn mower for 'dorm use' eh? LOL

Yah, I was talkn' about Valley Fair and they also took over the Emporium in Vallco. At the big mall in Sacramento, Macy's Mens is in the mall and the women's store is ACROSS the main street from the mall! Love playing chicken in the road with bags!?

Tires are kinda price fixed things. 30% off might afford some deals?!
I'm happy with my 32" PIP SONY WEGA from the 800.COM deal last year for $700 and also the Toshiba 1600 DVD for only $95! Don't need anymore electronics anyways...

I think they just reorganized under Chapter 11 (or is it Chapter 7?) didn't go out of business at that time.

Well Just for your information ! ! !
Went to the store last night, this is what I find out.

10% off Electronics ( TVs, Digital Cameras, Receivers, DVD players....etc...)
20% off for those Video Games and Accessories (PSX,Dreamcast..etc..)
20% off Furnitures (Sofas....etc..)
40% off Coffee Tables or something like that :)

And after talking to a employee, found out that it takes 4 to 6 months for WARD to completely CLOSE down.

And here is the interesting part!!!

They start closing down stores from EAST COAST and then move the remaining Merchadise/Leftovers to the WEST COAST store. And gradually, they MAY reduce the DISCOUNT MORE as time goes on.

As far as I see, nothing there really consider a DEAL to the Anantech-Deal-Catchers :)

Maybe 3 months later, someone may pick up something that would be a HOT DEAL.

END OF REPORT............back to sleep..... ;)

Ward's seems to be pulling a stunt like Service Merchandise (Anyone remember them, the over-priced, almost no selection store). A while ago (few months ago, if I remember correctly) Service Merchandise decided that busienss wasn't any good and decided to kill the Electronics and Toy departments to help save costs or whatever. However, most of the Service Merchandise had on 10% or some even 5% off the electronics section when this first started. I would recommend everyone to wait a few months, and then Ward's should be increasing the percentage off, like Service Merchandise. I remember about 2 months after Service Merchandise started the discount process, you could finally get 30-40% off most electronics and 25% off TV's. Now, there were some good deals (even though the place looked like it was raided and mobbed...hehe..half of the items were broken because of that. :( )

Oh well...my two cents worth. :)

Wouldn't waste my time going there. No great deals. Here in Houston was packed and people buying like crazy for a measly 10 - 20% off which you can get on most things elsewhere on sale. I think most of the buyers must have their MW CC they want to charge up before they close their doors.

Sorry to confuse everyone about Macy's. A couple of years ago here in Houston they shut them all down except for the one in the Galleria which is a ritzy shopping center for the wealthy. That was the best sale I'd ever been to. 65% off the lowest clearance prices on everything. Shame!!

I agree - when I stopped in at Wards this weekend their prices were only 10% off. On some of the items that I knew the list price of, they had already raised the list price on some by 15%. I didn't see any hot deals at all, and for that matter I didn't see any deals that resembled some of the great sales they had in the past. I suppose they are trying for the idiot business first. The people who see "Going Out Of Business" and think that everything is a great deal. It isn't! The cash registers were really humming with lines with as many as 40 to 50 people waiting to purchase their overpriced crap.

This could last for 4 - 6 weeks before the idiots run out of money or until Wards runs out of inventory. I heard that they had 3 billion dollars worth of inventory to get rid of.

I suppose when it gets closer to their closing date, the prices will fall, but by then, the idiots will have purchased all the great stuff except perhaps some computer parts, etc. Idiots can't seem to be able to put things together.

I want my new 30 sq ft fridge for 500 bucks.... wonder if it'll happen..? They will probably sell out to a big wholesaler in the end... and eat the loss. Have to keep an eye out on this one.
I think they still have a computer department here at the local store as well (thinking
laptop). :)

Hmmmm... wonder if they are bound by any law(s) that say the MUST accept offers (in writing with proper lango)... from a legitimate source, in expectation of a timely sale/transaction, providing the offers are reasonable, etc., since they are in receivership. Would be interesting to find out. Someone could purchase a bunch of their stock and make a killing?? (someone meaning a nice lil group of Anander's.... using my company as the "legitimate source"..hee hee).

I really love Wards website.

www.wards.com

The part I love the most is the message from the Chairman
talking about how they hope to serve
their customers for "many years to come"

That's pretty funny!

Checked out their "sales". Looks like another case of "Raise the price 40% and take off 20%"

Good ole Monkey Wards.....maybe I'll check them out on the very last day they plan to be open....then they'll really be willing to sell. Otherwise, it's rip off the public as usual.

Commercial this morning said "Final Sale" Fri-Sun w/ increased discounts:

All I saw was 50% off (clothing?)
20-40% off housewares
Extra 20% off jewelry

Pretty sad they have to waste money on commercials to liquidate their merchandise.

I just visited a Wards this evening and it was still operating with 40 percent off of the majority of their items including psx games and whatnot. 60 percent off their jewelry along with another 10 percent on top around 20 percent off all the other electronics. This was the Wards around San Pablo? well slightly south of it in Bay Area. just to give a heads up.

No deals I saw. They marked all the prices up to MSRP and then took 20% off the electronic. Some stuff was even cheaper BEFORE the liquidation sale. The only "warm" deal I saw was for the fixed price Sony Wegas...you can get $50-$100 off of one.
