To keep this post related to computer "Hot Deals" so it will not be locked like my last post (link) relating to Buy.com coupons, Wards B&M will be starting a liquidation sale tomorrow and they have DIGITAL CAMERS among other things (link) with discounts up to 40% off everything . . . including DIGITAL CAMERAS.

DaveS

Note - You cannot use your Buy.com coupons at Wards :)

Thanks Dave, I was wondering if they would have a sale like this! I remember shopping at Macy's going out of business sale and it was such fun - better than s** almost!

A few questions:

What is B&M?
Are all Office Depots closing?(kind of off topic)

Thanks

b&M = brick and mortal.. meaning actual physical store like the local gas station

Office depot is only closing down some of its stores.. that's what the news tells me.. but they are keeping most of their stores open

Wow, if they are ditching their Apex AD-703 DVD Players, I'd recommend jumping on as many as you can get.

Will other places pricematch montgomery wards clearance prices. Id rather get the stuff from Best Buy so if I have any problems I can return it.

Scottacus,
Not all Macy's closed, but most of them did. There is still 1 in Houston. They got rid of about 4 here I think.

skywhr,
Yeah, other places will price match, but it will be difficult since I see most electronics going first and fast. BestBuy may want to call to see if they have it in stock, and Wards may be so slammed as to not answer their phones like the day after it was announced that they were closing. They were packed.

Three more things:
1. ALL SALES FINAL - No returns or exchanges
2. NO CHECKS - Cash and Credit Cards only.
3. NO BUY.COM COUPONS - They will not accept them in the store :) (See my link in the first post in this topic)

What time do they open (EST)? Has anyone had a chance to check it out? The article reads UP TO 40% off in all departments. I hope they don't start out at 5% off in electronics and some hillbilly thinks it is such a great deal and buys everything out :D

I am really wanting their front loading Maytag Neptune washing machine, about 950 regular price...

A few thoughts...

Don't all Hillbillys shop at Wards? They will get cleaned out before the prices are a steal methinks!

Do you really think Best buy or ANYBODY is going to pricematch a going out of business sale?! LOL :p

Macy's has not closed any stores here in N. California that I know of. In fact when the other similar store here (Emporium) closed, Macy's expanded and took over their stores. Macy's in a few malls now are HUGE. They have Women's at one end of a mall and Men's on the other end, couples shopping together sure get there exercise! Good deals can be found at Macy's, they have high class clothes CHEAP on the clearance racks and most weekends they have Additional % OFF the clearance! :) or if you want a REAL DEAL, go buy your clothes at WARDS! LOL

geoffkin,

You are talking about Valley Fair aren't you? =) Anyway, is this Wards going out of business sale nationwide, because they might decide to phase out their stores at places that don't make much revenue first. I want one of those riding mowers... even though I live in a dorm.

Just got back from Wards. Here's the scoop here in southern Missouri.

All electronic and electronic type items = 10% off (non-event, IMO).
Fridges and Washer/dryers = 10% off
Housewares (kitchen junk) = 20% off
Upholstered Furniture = 20% off
All other furniture (except some home-office, i.e. O'Sullivan, etc.) = 30% off
Tires = 30% off
Accessories (paintings, "sculptures," and decorative stuff) = 40% off

So for those looking for electronics, it's a total blowoff. Perhaps a few days to a week down the road, Wards will start really dropping prices, but until then, there are better coupon deals than 10%, especially considering Wards' standard pricing anyway.

I personally could use a coffee table and an end table, and I almost bought a set (wanted to try to talk down the price a bit more than 30% off ;)). For that type of furniture and bedroom/dining furniture, shop now. For most other stuff, just wait it out.

Sorry, didn't check out the Lawn and Garden or clothes sections.

10% off on electronics might be good for those items that are "price-fixed" like Bose and some Sony stuff and I am sure other items...
