Well, it's out. Thank Razor for helping us save money. If you are on a Blizzard purchasing boycott, you can get the iso just to see what the hubub is all about. It's 700 megs. It also comes with a PDF manual so you are not missing out on anything compared to the July 3 version.
Info
Mini-review:
Gameplay speed has improved a bit and is more compatible on lower end systems than the beta version. A 500 MHz Celeron laptop with Rage Pro 8 meg video card works at decent speed in 800x600 mode and in low settings.
The cut scenes are unsurprisingly good. However, the dialog scenes with 3D characters are lame. The dialect and lingo doesn't quite match that of the Medieval period.
Nevertheless, the single player experience is hardly impressive. It's basically Starcraft with Warcraft characters and is bogged down by dialog scenes. Scrolling across the screen is still so slow compared to Starcraft.
When I finish watching the cut scenes, I doubt I would touch this again.
If you want a satisfying RTS multiplayer experience (without unit limits, scrolling slowdowns, acceptable lag), stick with Starcraft/Broodwar.
