Best Buy is offering a $10 pre order for Warcraft 3. When you purchase, it looks just like the game box will, comes with a novel based on the storyline involving Thrall. Really good read, finished it in two days. It also comes with a chance to win a new Dell P4 gaming system. Plus of course, $10 off the game when it is released.

When I walked by the endcap and saw the box I gasped. Then I saw $10 and stopped breathing. I thought I had missed the release AND Best Buy was selling it super cheap. Then the wife was kind enough to point out it was pre-order only. Whew.

EDIT:
I was at Software Etc. yesterday and they are also offering a pre-order and their incentive is a DVD of the cinematic trailers that have been released. Didn't see a price though. I imagine it's probably about the same as BB.

Oh, collector's edition......so pretty......I really hope that my preorder can be used for that. $65 as opposed to $75 sounds more appealing to the wife.

The CE looks like it'll be VERY worth it. You get the game, DVD Quality trailers (on a DVD), a signed manual, a coffee table book, and limited edition 8x10 prints. Considering some of the art in the Warcraft 2 manual was amazing, those prints should rock. Too bad I could never afford it :(

I didnt' find this game that great. Compared with other blizzard games it just doesn't have that much multiplayer appeal. I feel the entire thing moves a little too slowly. Of coruse, I haven't played it for quite a while so I don't know if they made any changes. I think I stopped playing after the third patch. I just think this game is getting more attention than it deserves.. then again we only really got a taste from the beta test.. who knows.. maybe they change a few more things in multiplayer to make it more interesting. I mean there's already a lot you can do with the game and all, but it's not like starcraft.. I just don't find myself getting absorbed in the strategy and it seems more detached. The heroes are definitely cool and add a entire new spin on strategy. Oh well, we'll all just have to wait till it actually goes on sale :) And I really was a beta tester, still got the papers and the fedex envelope it came in :)

Blizzard should be economically punished for evoking DMCA and stifling our online programming, webhosting, and server choosing rights.

This game is over-inflated in price and in advertisement.

After testing the beta, I was too uninterested in playing it after a week or so (I haven't touched it in months). It is playable only as a single player game. Multiplayer is slow, buggy, and just un-fun.

Boycott this game if you value your rights. Contribute to EFF to save your rights. Down with Blizzard.

If you want to play, get the ISO when it comes out.

Oh, yeah ... Down with Blizzard. Down with DMCA!!! :)

Was just looking at that. Says its a copy of the game that is "released a few days after" in a DVD case? What kinda copy of the game is like that? Sounds a bit warez'ish. If its true they have a cheaper version with no frills just released in a DVD case, why doesn't anyone else sell/advertise it?

On a side note, how does that $10 Pre-order work? Are they saying that if I pay 10 bucks now, they will sell it to me for 49.99 (or basically 39.99 since I already put down $10) or will i have to pay 49.99 for the game above and beyond my $10 invested in the game?

If the latter is true, the only thing you get with your 10 bucks is a guarenteed copy.

The latter. You pay $10 for the preorder, and when you come back to pick it up, you get $10 off the cost of the game. You basically get a guaranteed copy of WCIII and a free book. $60 is still more than I'm willing to play, though. My system wont be able to handle it either :frown:

When WC3 ships, Blizzard won't be getting a thing from me except a letter explaining why I'm boycotting their products. I won't be missing much, either. My friends who were lucky enough to get into the beta test lost interest in it very quickly, these are people who played (and still play) Star Crack fanatically. But to each his own. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who will love this game.

I am also a "beta tester"....although my computer is not near as fast as some of you guys, it is fast enough...my point is that it says minimum requirements are 450 mhz or something like that....even with my 1.1Ghz amd when 4 or more people play i lose control of my mouse and stuff starts to get really laggy..it's really annoying. and it's not just my computer...my roommates computer running @950mhz does the same thing...

so before you go wasting your money, make sure you have a damn good processor if you're gonna be playing multiplayer...

just a little tip for you out there that are unlucky to have slow computers like mine :D
