I've never played on Battle.Net before and I just went out and bought WC3:ROC a week or two ago (after yes, using a friend's copy for a few weeks). Would you recommend I go out and pick up Frozen Throne or just stick with RoC ?

Frozen Throne is worth it if you can find it for about $20. I like playing the campaigns and they have a new bonus campaign which is pretty much Diablo using the WC3 engine. It's pretty fun, but it gets old kind of fast. You run around different areas with a hero and collect items and kill things.

They added some cool tweaks to multiplayer that make it (in my opinion) a lot more fun. They raised the minimum for upkeep so you can build more and build faster now.

Don't buy Frozen Throne if you're not gonna play on b.net. Single player campaign was, imho, a disappointment. But the multiplayer is very fun.

In my personal opinion, I thought the FT expansion was just as good as the original. Well worth the money.

I liked the frozen throne story line and animations.
I don't like the shadow hunter icon
he looked cooler w/ the paper bag over his head in beta

i personally thought that TFT was fun! but igowerf is right. If you can find it for 20, which im sure you can, then buy it. TFT isn't worth 35, seriously.

If you are enjoying ROC you should certaintly get TFT. More of what you love then :). Three regular campaigns, one adventure style bonus campaign (two more to come), two new FMV cinematics, loads of new units, spells, heroes, maps, new battle.net features, new control features, etc. etc.

EDIT: If you don't care to play on b.net at all you might not want to pay $35 or get it at all... But Battle.net is the best part of the game. Get together some friends who play, use Arranged Teams, join or even form a clan, and you'll be having lots of fun.
