So far i just noticed warcraft III threads with the title of something like "yay i got wc3!" or something like that. I didnt get it :(, but i'd sure like it if people post some reviews about their experience so far :)

I'd like to know also. I got it on friday but my vid card isn't up to par at all so i lent to a friend. He lost badly first game and said it's like war2 with better graphics but I'll be checking it out in the next week. I'm making sure that this beta goes to good use, which may require purchase of a new vid card.

i didnt like wc2 much since it looks "slower" than starcraft in terms of gameplay...i was hoping wc3 would keep up the same pace :[.....it'd be so sweet if starcraft came out with a new expansion pack :)...2 more races!

the game is just NICE! It's like BUTTAH!

I don't think the requirements are super high. All the units are polygonal but i still don't think the game requires dual AMD 1900+'s.

Humans are same ol same ol. Their heroes are not bad. Mountain Kings rock! Super damn cool hella strong

Orcs are also pretty much the same. Orc Blademasters are really nice. They have this skill called Whirlwind where they're just a blue whir and they rape guys. Building and resources are the same with them

Undead are interesting. Their units are a tad weak i think. They build buildings like Protoss: they summon them and then the acolytes (undead workhorses) are free to do other things. Gold mines must be "haunted" before they can be mined. Acolytes just "pray" at the mines and ur gold count goes up. You need Creeps (soldier / workhorse) to gather wood. Acolytes can't collect wood.

I LOVE the Night Elves. The Night Elf Demon Hunter (hero) is the COOLEST THING EVER IN THIS GAME I LOVE WITH ALL MY BODY (even my pee pee). Most of their buildings are living trees which can actually get up, move around and attack enemies. The Night Elf Town Hall must be placed adjacent to a gold mine where the Town Hall grows roots around the mine, eliminating the need for workhorses to get gold. The Wisps (workhorses) are awesome. they can heal friendly units, and explode, dispelling all enemy buffs. Wisps also gather wood by swirling around them and "extracting" the wood, so no trees are cut down.

Your heroes are your bread and butter. They lead your teams in raids and stuff. Only heroes can level up and get skills from a skill tree a'la Diablo 2. when you defeat NPC's or enemy heroes you can get special items like Healing Potions and Diablo items like the Belt of the Giant +6 etc etc

The voices ROCK. LOTS of monty python references and pop-culture things. Check out the Undead Banshee. I find her one of the funniest, as well as the Orc Blademaster.

And no one EVER gets tired of the Scottish Dwarven Riflemen. "THIS... IS.... MAH BOOMSTICK!!"

All in all, GET THIS GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT

The beta requirements were p3 600, 128 ram, and 32 video ram (which strikes me as really strange: why have a requirement like that for video ram?) but the game requirements ought to be much lower.

Judging on past Blizzard betas, they'll have four+ months to get better performance before the game is anywhere near done :)

I'm liking it so far. I need to play it more though, I've only played 3 games since I started, and they haven't been much fun because the people I was playing with were kinda boring. I haven't tried the Night Elves yet, I'll have to give them a try. I like how you can go to neutral buildings and hire people. I went to some building and hired a troll in a blimp to scout around the map for me.

I wonder when the game will come out? Ebgames says 6/25, I hope it's sooner, but with Blizzard I won't hold my breath. The game seems pretty close to done on the multiplayer side though, balance changes aside, but Blizzard always makes changes to that as they go anyway.

i have me a GeForce 2 MX with 32 MB SDRAM and I have WC3 running 1280 x 1024 x 16 with no problems.

THe highest res my monitor can go is 1280 x 1024 so WC3 might be playable at higher.

<< how does the game play itself differ from wcII, if at all? >>

gameplay is a little different.

battles are more squad based rather than super massive zerg invasion force.

You really concentrate on leveling up your heroes. Remember in SC and WC2 where you never use your heroes b/c they would die? well you HAVE to use your heroes in battle if you wanna win. They make battles MUUUUCH shorter. And if you go out and attack without a hero, they don't level up.
