i recently got warcraft 3 the other day and installed it, but i have the following problem(s):

From what i understand, I should be able to start a campaign with 4 diffrent races, humans, orcs, undead or elves. When i start a new campaign, i only have access to choosing 2 races, the humans and orcs. Nothing else is avaliable. Is this correct? Will i be able to choose the other races later or something? Do i need to unlock the other 2 races?

Also on mission 2 of the orcs after rescuing one of the orc leaders, the mission ends and throws me back to a starting campaign list with only the same 2 choices of either human or orc campaigns, and doesnt continue to the next mission.

Anyone else have warcraft 3 and have a choice of only 2 races or should i have access to all 4 races to star with at the beginning??

What gives?

Umm...you get access to new chapters as you beat them. It's a whole story line with about 32-35 chapters or so. You will eventually play all the races as the story unfolds. You could always just play a regular custom game to play with the other races (straight deathmatch, no campaigns).

The Orc campaign you see is only a tutorial... to get you used to the game + it has some important storyline info, so I think it should be played.

It is followed up by the Human campaign (real one). Once you beat it, you get undead, then orc, then Night Elf. The reason Blizzard decided to disable starting from random campaigns is because it really ruins the story, and after beating all of the campaigns (brag: on hard without cheats) I would have to agree with that decision.

If you really have a nick for playing the other 2 races, try playing on single player->custom map and selecting your race versus a computer. The computer AI is... well it has some bugs (mainly against AI creeps and expansion), but it is a very formidable opponent on certain maps.

thx guys fo pointing out that theres nothing wrong with my game then. I guess im so used to the way starcraft works that i thought i was supposed to have access to all races from the start. (i know, im prolly the only person that even has SC still installed and play on a regular basis.... its just a timeless game for me that NEVER gets old!)
